There are about 9745 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Israel. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Recent data show that Rosiglitazone treatment can reduce proteinuria in diabetic patients. However, currently there are no trials that examine the effects of Rosiglitazone on kidney disease progression, that is, doubling of serum creatinine or time to onset of end-stage renal disease, in patients with diabetic nephropathy. We decided to study retrospectively the possible association between rosiglitazone use and clinical course of diabetic nephropathy, including rate of deterioration of renal function, appearance and progression of microalbuminuria/proteinuria, survival and acceptance to renal replacement therapy.
The study’s primary goal is to assess the safety of the SAF (Self Adjusting File) device for root canal treatments. The study’s secondary goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of the SAF device for root canal treatments
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a new laser system provides better safety and efficacy than existing lasers in popular cosmetic procedures such as hair removal, treatment of cosmetically disturbing vascular lesions and rhytides.
Randomized, controlled, open, comparative intervention study in two groups, each consisting of 25 children with type 1 diabetes that will undergo twelve weeks of exercise program (intensive arm) and twelve weeks of regular activity (non intensive arm) separated by four week of washout period. The study will be conducted in a crossover manner: one group starting with the intensive arm followed by the non intensive arm and vice versa. Blood glucose, HbA1C, Fructosamine, 3 days continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS), total daily insulin dose, fasting lipid profile, body impedance and BMR will be measured. Self esteem and quality of life questionnaires will be filled.
PURPOSE: We determined whether Synergo therapy- intravesical chemotherapy instillation combined with hyperthermia instillation is associated with elevated prostate specific antigen (PSA). MATERIALS AND METHODS: We will treat 25 consecutive patients with bladder cancer with a 6-week course of Synergo therapy, followed by cystoscopy at 6 weeks. Blood samples for PSA determination will obtain before each synergo therapy application and at cystoscopy with each patient also serving as a control. Evaluating changes in PSA level in patients undergoing treatment with Synergo delivered local hyperthermia combined with intravesical instillation of Mitomycin C for adjuvant treatment or pt. with recurrent tu of bladder post TURT with BCGtreatment.
To determine whether screening of pregnant women with history of previous preterm delivery or with premature contractions for bacterial vaginosis using VS-SENSE, and treatment of positive women will reduce the risk of spontaneous preterm birth.
To evaluate whether treatment with Estradiol supplementation during the luteal phase improves IVF outcomes Patients undergoing IVF treatment with controlled ovarian hyperstimulation using a GnRH analog will receive 4 mg estradiol valerate in the luteal phase.Patient's followup will include E2 progesterone and BHCG 14 days after embryo transfer and vaginal ultrasound on day 21 and 28 after embryo transfer
The trial is aimed to investigate an orthodontic treatment with a new removable-part-time-wearing appliance, based on "High-Tech" technology. The appliance should be wear only 12-14 hours a day, and is made of a single silicone aligner, made specifically for the patient, using 3-D screening technology of the patient's malocclusion. The aligner has a designed pathway "built-in" for the tooth to move, from the original position of the malocclusion to the "end point" - the correct position. The force system, that is needed in order to generate tooth movement, is produced by tiny air-balloons which are incorporated in the aligner. The study hypothesis is, that an orthodontic treatment can be done successfully with this part-time wearing appliance.
Objectives 1. To determine the burden and characteristics of rotavirus-associated hospitalizations among children under five years of age of northern Israel 2. To identify potential risk factors of rotavirus infections associated with hospitalizations among Jewish and Arab children younger than five years of age. Methods: Study design: A two-year prospective study and a nested case control study will be carried out Collection of data: Questionnaires will be filled in with demographic characteristics of patients and data on the clinical manifestation of the diarrheal episode leading to hospitalization. Stool specimens will be systematically collected from all children hospitalized because of diarrheal diseases and examined for rotavirus and for bacterial and protozoan enteropathogens. Positive samples for rotavirus will be tested for G and P genotypes. For the nested case control study additional data will be obtained from parents' interviews on variables such as: parents' education, parents' age, parents' occupation, no. of siblings, age of siblings, breastfeeding etc. to identify potential risk factors for rotavirus diarrhea necessitating hospitalization. Data analysis: Methods of descriptive statistics / epidemiology will be applied to determine the characteristics of the burden of rotavirus-associated hospitalizations (the distribution of diarrhea associated hospitalizations by etiology, rates of rotavirus diarrheal diseases in Jewish and Arab children, age specific rates of rotavirus infections, the percentage of hospitalizations due to rotavirus diarrhea by month, etc. For the nested case control study, univariate analysis will be first performed using Student t test for continuous variables and chi square test for categorical variables to study the statistical significance of predictive factors of rotavirus diarrheal diseases necessitating hospitalization. Multivariate analysis using logistic regression models will be performed to study the independent effect of each variable. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% CI will be computed for each variable. Two tailed p < 0.05 will be considered significant.
The purpose of this study is to determine wether vitiligo patients have more audiological abmnormalities, than the healthy population.
