Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) has a significant impact on one's quality and quantity of life resulting in increased morbidity and mortality. In Ireland, COPD has the highest hospital admissions in comparison to other countries within the organisation for economic cooperation and development (OECD). There is a need to improve knowledge and self-management behaviour in order to improve recognition of early signs of an exacerbation thereby seeking early treatment from the general practitioner (GP) thus reducing hospital admissions among this cohort . There are limited studies pertaining to the use of a comprehensive self-management programme via a smartphone app for people with COPD on a longitudinal basis.The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of a smartphone application self-management programme on clinical health outcomes in patients with COPD.

A Research Study Investigating Mim8 in Adults and Adolescents With Haemophilia A With or Without Inhibitors

This study is investigating how Mim8 works compared to other medicines in people with haemophilia A, who either have inhibitors or do not have inhibitors. Mim8 is a new medicine that will be used for prevention of bleeding episodes. Mim8 works by replacing the function of the missing clotting factor VIII (FVIII). When and how often participants will receive Mim8 is dependent on their previous treatment - but is otherwise decided by chance. Mim8 will be injected into a skinfold on the stomach with a thin needle either once a week or once a month. The study will last 54-124 weeks (12-29 months) depending on how long participants will be followed in run-in before they start treatment and if they continue in the follow period or transfer to an open label extension study. Participants will have 12-17 clinic visits.

This study evaluates the safety and efficacy of PHA-022121 administered orally for prophylaxis against angioedema attacks in patients with hereditary angioedema (HAE). The study consists of 2 parts, with patients completing participation in Part 1 prior to initiation of treatment in Part 2. Part 1 of the study has 3 parallel arms and approximately 30 patients will be equally randomized to one of two dose regimens of PHA-022121 or matching placebo. Patients will continue to the single open-label arm in Part 2 of the study after completion of Part 1. The screening period is up to 8 weeks and the treatment periods are 12 weeks (Part 1) and 30 months (Part 2) in duration.

Long-Term Observational Study on Effectiveness and Safety of Lecigon in Patients With Advanced Parkinson's Disease

This observational study is designed to collect data on the use of the drug Lecigon® in daily clinical practice. The study is organised and funded by a pharmaceutical company called Britannia Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Britannia). Lecigon® is prescribed by physicians in advanced Parkinson's disease when patients suffer from uncontrollable fluctuations in mobility, so-called motor fluctuations, which cannot be adjusted well with oral treatment, i.e. medication for swallowing. In this study, data on the effect and possible side effects from everyday treatment with Lecigon® will be collected and scientifically evaluated. The study is intended to supplement the results of previous clinical studies with clinical data in routine medical care, collected from approximately 300 patients.

Use of Remote Thermovisual Monitoring in Patients With a Previous Diabetic Foot Ulcer

The goal of the clinical trial is to investigate adherence to, and effects of, the Bluedrop Monitoring System (BMS) in high-risk patients with at least one previous diabetic foot ulcer (DFU). The BMS is a remote thermovisual monitoring system, which allows the condition of the soles of the feet to be remotely monitored for thermal and visual signs of inflammation, both of which may signal the onset of certain conditions, such as diabetic foot ulcers. It is comprised of the Delta Foot Scanner (DFS) device and its accompanying Sentinel Review Interface (SRI) software. The Covid-19 pandemic has driven the need for remote patient care where possible. Although this is challenging for people with foot ulcers, prevention is the key. Remote thermovisual monitoring might help reduce recurrent foot ulcers and therefore the number of necessary hospital visits which always puts the patient at increased risk of Covid infection.
