There are about 3753 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Hong Kong. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study aims to develop a typology-based intervention delivered by smoking cessation (SC) counselors to prevent smoking relapse in ex-smokers who recently quit. The two main research questions include (1) Can a typology-based smoking relapse prevention intervention be feasible and accepted by the smokers and SC counselors who deliver the new intervention? (2) What is the preliminary evidence on the efficacy of the typology-based smoking relapse prevention to increase tobacco abstinence in ex-smokers who have recently quit? If the intervention shows at least a small effect size (i.e. risk ratio>1.3), or the intervention is feasible while modifications can potentially increase the efficacy, a future definitive RCT is warranted.
In Hong Kong, Colorectal cancer ranks second in both cancer incidence and mortality. The government-subsidized population-based CRC screening program (the Program) was launched for asymptomatic individuals aged 50-75 years to undergo biennial FIT screenings. A subsidized follow-up colonoscopy is offered to participants with positive FIT results. Participants are advised to repeat the FIT screening 2 years after receiving a negative result. An automated noninteractive short message service (SMS) text reminder, used by the Program as standard care (SC), is delivered to participants who are due for repeat FIT. According to unpublished data, despite SC, only 34% of participants adhere to biennial repeat FIT in the CRC screening program. Nonadherence to repeat FIT screening is caused by forgetfulness and is associated with an individual's psychological health behaviour.
We hypothesize that a multifaceted antibiotic stewardship intervention incorporating physician education, prospective chart review with antibiotic recommendation, and provision of follow-up by a multidisciplinary antibiotic stewardship team, is more effective than physician education and reminders alone in improving physicians' prescription of short-course and oral-switch antibiotic therapy for patients with bloodstream infections due to Enterobacterales (BSI-E). This study is to: 1. determine the effectiveness of a multifaceted antibiotic stewardship intervention in improving physicians' prescription of short-course antibiotic therapy for BSI-E 2. determine the effectiveness of a multifaceted antibiotic stewardship intervention in improving physicians' de-escalation to oral antibiotic therapy for BSI-E
Urothelial carcinomas are one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers worldwide. Postoperative patients carry a poor prognosis with an estimated five-year disease-specific survival rate of 50%. To improve overall survival and reduce the recurrent risk, chemotherapy is recommended as a standard of care. However, currently in Hong Kong, neoadjuvant (preoperational) chemotherapy and adjuvant (postoperative) chemotherapy are not commonly or regularly provided due to the concern of the potential harm from both physicians and patients. Recently, genetic signature from circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is emerging as a pivotal biomarker for detecting caner in early stage and molecular residual disease (MRD). With strengths of non-invasive and superior sensitivity, ctDNA is hopefully to serve as a cancer-agnostic surrogate analyte for risk stratification of tumor recurrence, thereby guiding individually tailored treatment. Therefore, this study is proposed to exploratively assess the benefit of ctDNA-guided approach for postoperative adjuvant therapy.
The goal of this clinical trial is to explore Clinical Effect of Myofascial Release Therapy in Dysphagic Traumatic Brain injured Survivors. The main question it aims to answer is: • Can Myofascial Release Therapy improve swallowing function in Traumatic Brain injured Survivors? Patients will be randomly allocated into the control group or the experimental group, all under rehabilitation treatment, the experimental group will be given Myofascial Release Therapy. The study lasts 21 days for each patient. Researchers will compare the Functional Oral Intake Scale, Penetration-Aspiration Scale, Swallowing Quality of Life to see if the Myofascial Release Therapy can help improve the situation.

We hypothesize that AI-assisted colonoscopy can reduce post-colonoscopy neoplasia incidence after 3 years, over standard colonoscopy. Moreover, this protective effect may allow surveillance intervals to be lengthened, by modifying long-term outcome of high-risk subgroup.

This study also aims to develop and apply a standard repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) protocol on drug users. The investigators want to focus on the effects of rTMS on amphetamine and cocaine as they are the most commonly used types of illicit drugs in Hong Kong. The primary research question is: • To examine if rTMS can reduce craving and consumption of the most commonly used illicit drugs (amphetamine, cocaine) among people with drug use disorders in Hong Kong? The secondary research questions are: - What is the association between rTMS protocol (frequency, intensity) and drug craving and consumption? - Would there be gains in executing functioning among participants who have received rTMS treatment? - Would there be a reduction in depressive and anxiety symptoms among participants who have received rTMS treatment? The investigators would use a cross-over design (figure 1) to investigate the effects of rTMS. The investigators would recruit participants through community drug rehabilitation and youth outreach services. Participants who meet the selection and exclusion criteria will be invited to join. Upon obtaining their written consent, the investigators would randomize participants to a treatment (rTMS) group and a sham stimulation (placebo) group. Upon completing the first phase (2 weeks), there would be a washout period of 2 weeks. The two groups will swap (treatment becomes sham, and vice-versa) and the second phase will proceed. A double-blinded procedure will be implemented. Outcome measures will be conducted at baseline, after Phase I, at the start of Phase II, and at the end of Phase II.
