There are about 25435 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in United Kingdom. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence of seizures and monitor the safety of enzalutamide treatment in participants with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) known to have risk factor(s) for seizure.
The purpose of this study is to determine the highest dose of CXD101 (a novel histone deacetylase inhibitor) that can be safely administered to patients with advanced tumours. The study will also investigate the use of HR23B expression in tumour as a biomarker of response to treatment with CXD101. Patients with solid tumours, lymphoma and myeloma can be considered for this study.
Breast Cancer is the single most common cancer, and the third leading cause of cancer cancer deaths, in the United Kingdom. Breast screening is able to detect breast cancer in the early stages of development, during which time it is more easily treatable. Unfortunately, many patients do not attend screening, and surveys issued to these women consistently report "forgetfulness" as the primary reason for missing the appointment. Both telephone reminders and postal reminders have been shown to reduce non-attendance, however, these are time consuming and expensive. Mobile telephones are becoming an increasingly popular tool for communication between healthcare professionals and patients, one which might offer an inexpensive solution for delivering reminders. Text message reminders have been able to prevent missed appointments in other areas of healthcare, and the same might be true for breast screening. The investigators are conducting a trial to confirm whether this is the case or not. In this trial, the investigators will send some women a text message to reminder them of their appointment, and other women no reminder for their appointment. The investigators will then compare the number of women in each group that went to their breast screening appointment.
This study will be conducted in approximately 228 subjects with anemia associated with CKD who are not on dialysis. Two groups of subjects will be enrolled into the study: Group 1: recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) naive subjects; Group 2: rhEPO users, who are currently receiving rhEPO. Subjects who are rhEPO naive will be randomized to receive either GSK1278863 once daily (QD) or rhEPO in a 3:1 fashion; subjects who are receiving an rhEPO before enrolling (rhEPO users) will be randomized in a 1:1 fashion to GSK1278863 QD or to the control arm. For those randomized to the control arm, the decision around whether the subject requires rhEPO, the selection of the type of rhEPO (if needed) and the choice of rhEPO dose to achieve and maintain Hgb concentrations within the target range should be based on Investigator clinical judgment, with the historical rhEPO dose and the current Hgb value being considered. The study consists of a screening phase of at least 4 weeks, a 24-week treatment phase and a follow-up visit that will occur approximately 4 weeks after completing treatment. It is anticipated that the data generated will enable selection of the starting dose(s) and optimize dose adjustment regimen(s) for Phase 3 clinical trials.
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and clinical outcomes of the Absorb BVS for daily use in patients with de novo lesions in previously untreated vessels.
This study is intended to evaluate the dose-response relationship of GSK1278863 over the first 4 weeks of treatment and evaluate the safety and efficacy of GSK1278863 over 24 weeks to maintain hemoglobin (Hgb) level in hemodialysis-dependent (HDD) subjects with anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are switched from a stable dose of recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO). The data generated will enable selection of the starting dose(s) and optimize dose adjustment regimen(s) for Phase 3 clinical trials.
This investigation consists of two parallel groups of participants who will follow the same protocol. The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of using Functional Electrical Stimulation/Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO) or splint as an assistive mobility device over a 12 week period in people with MS who experience foot drop. Patients who are clinically prescribed FES will be invited to participate in the FES arm of the study. Patients who are clinically prescribed an AFO will be invited to participate in the AFO arm. Participants will be asked to make four visits to the gait laboratory at Queen Margaret University. Four weeks before the start of device use (Baseline - 4 weeks), start of device use (Baseline), after 6 weeks and 12 weeks of device use. Participants' walking will assessed using computerised three dimensional motion analysis, which will provide a detailed description of the movements (kinematics) of the lower limbs. Participants will also be asked to carry out a 10 metre walk and a two minute walk. Both gait analysis and the walking performance tests will be carried out with and without an assistive device; apart from their first session where participants will only be assessed without their assistive device. Participants will be asked to wear an activity monitor for 7 days after each assessment. In addition participants will be asked to complete four short standardised questionnaires (MS walking scale, MS impact scale (MSIS-29), Fatigue severity score and the Leeds MS Quality of life score) at each assessment.
The primary objective is to assess the effects of colestilan on the pharmacokinetic profile of candesartan cilexetil when administered at the same time as, 1 hour before, and 3 hours after the first daily dose of colestilan administered at doses of 5 g three times daily compared to administration of candesartan cilexetil alone, in healthy subjects.
This is a Phase 3, long-term open-label extension study to evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of tofacitinib in subjects with active PsA who have previously participated in randomized studies of tofacitinib for this indication. This study will include a sub-study to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of tofacitinib 5 mg BID administered as monotherapy after methotrexate withdrawal compared to tofacitinib 5 mg BID continued in combination with methotrexate. The sub-study will be available to subjects who have completed at least 24 months of participation in the open-label extension study and meet eligibility criteria for the sub-study.
To evaluate the safety and tolerability of single- and multiple doses of Lu AE58054 in healthy young Japanese men in comparison with Caucasian men.
