Persistence of the Immune Response After Immunisation With Ebola Virus Vaccines

PRISM
Start date: May 17, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of this study is to investigate the persistence of the vaccine induced immune response between 24 - 60 months following primary vaccination. The study consists of three cohorts: Cohort 1: volunteers from the Phase 1 study of the various prime/boost regimes with two viral vectored Ebola vaccines: Ad26-ZEBOV and MVA-BN-Filo vaccines Cohort 2: volunteers who have been vaccinated previously with Ebola vaccine r-VSV-ZEBOV Cohort 3: volunteers from the Phase 2 study of 3 prime/boost regimes with Ad26.ZEBOV and MVA-BN-Filo vaccines (VAC52150EBL2001: EVOLVE).

NCT ID: NCT03140371 Completed - Malnutrition Clinical Trials

High Energy High Protein Peptide Feed Study

Start date: July 14, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Oral nutritional supplements and enteral tube feeds are commonly used to meet the nutritional requirements of patients with disease-related malnutrition, or who require medical nutrition support for other reasons. Some patients may not tolerate standard formulations containing whole proteins (typically due to maldigestion/malabsorption) leading to gastrointestinal symptoms (i.e. vomiting and diarrhoea). Without appropriate management, this may lead to reduced nutritional intake, increased nutritional losses and risk of malnutrition in patients who may already have elevated nutritional requirements due to their clinical conditions. Poor tolerance to standard feed formulations can be managed with extensively hydrolysed (peptide-based) enteral feeds, where the protein source is provided in smaller proteins. Patients with elevated nutritional requirements, poor tolerance, maldigestion and/or malabsorption often require a higher energy, higher protein feed to meet their nutritional requirements in a smaller volume of feed. The study feed is a high energy (1.5kcal/ml), high protein (7.5g protein/100ml) peptide-based feed, available as a 500ml enteral tube feed, and a 200ml Vanilla-flavour oral nutritional supplement. The study will investigate the gastrointestinal tolerance, compliance and acceptability of the high energy, high protein peptide-based feed in 60 adult patients requiring a peptide-based feed, in several NHS sites across England. Patients will be asked to take the study feed for 28 days. Data will be recorded using questionnaires with no invasive measures. The primary outcome is gastrointestinal tolerance with secondary outcomes of compliance, acceptability, nutrient intake and anthropometry.

NCT ID: NCT03139942 Completed - Colonic Neoplasms Clinical Trials

Optical Polyp Testing for In Vivo Classification

OPTIC
Start date: March 14, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Small growths detected in the colon (polyps) during a colonoscopy may or may not have the potential to develop into cancer. However, since visual inspection alone cannot separate all potentially harmful polyps from harmless ones, the standard approach is to remove them all for histological lab examination, exposing patients to risk of injury and putting a significant demand on hospital resources. An accurate method of determining polyp type during endoscopy would enable the clinician to only remove potentially harmful polyps. A new endoscopic optical imaging probe (OPTIC), which analyses how light interacts with tissue, is proposed to do this. The probe is contained within a normal endoscope and uses white light and blue/violet laser light to illuminate the tissue. The reflected and fluorescent light emitted, along with normal colour pictures of the polyp surface, are measured and recorded to quantify specific characteristics of each type. Optical measurements of polyps detected in endoscopy clinics at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust will be analysed to determine if the signal can be used to differentiate different polyp types.

NCT ID: NCT03139604 Completed - Clinical trials for Graft-versus-host Disease (GVHD)

GRAVITAS-301: A Study of Itacitinib or Placebo in Combination With Corticosteroids for Treatment of Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease

Start date: July 19, 2017
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate itacitinib or placebo in combination with corticosteroids as first-line treatment of participants with Grade II to IV acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD).

NCT ID: NCT03139578 Completed - Visual Acuity Clinical Trials

Short-Term Clinical Comparison of Two Silicone Hydrogel Daily Disposable Contact Lenses

Start date: April 28, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This will be a 2 period one-day, double-masked, randomized, repeated measures, non-dispensing, cross-over study where the main purpose of this study is to compare the performance of a new daily disposable silicone hydrogel lens with that of an existing similar lens.

NCT ID: NCT03138655 Completed - Ulcerative Colitis Clinical Trials

Start date: November 8, 2017
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate vedolizumab pharmacokinetics (PK), safety and tolerability in pediatric participants with moderately to severely active UC or CD.

NCT ID: NCT03138512 Completed - Clinical trials for Carcinoma, Renal Cell

A Study Comparing Nivolumab, Nivolumab in Combination With Ipilimumab and Placebo in Participants With Localized Kidney Cancer Who Underwent Surgery to Remove Part of a Kidney

CheckMate 914
Start date: July 7, 2017
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether nivolmab alone or the combination of nivolumab and ipilimumab versus placebo, is safe and effective for delaying or preventing recurrence of cancer in participants who have experienced partial or entire removal of a kidney.

NCT ID: NCT03138265 Completed - Sarcopenia Clinical Trials

HIT Training in the Frail Elderly.

eHIT
Start date: September 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This pilot study aims to investigate whether high intensity interval training can result in rapid improvements in physical fitness amongst the frail elderly (over 70 years old). Participants will undergo a wide range of physical fitness measures followed by a four week exercise protocol. Determination of improvement will be by repeated testing of the physical measures taken for baseline. The primary outcome measure will be anaerobic threshold. There will also be a subgroup of participants who will undergo muscle biopsy and D2O ingestion to allow an insight into the mechanistic basis behind exercise training response in this age group.
