There are about 21071 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Spain. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study was intended to assess the value of a hemostatic and sealing agent, a collagen sponge coated with human coagulation factors (fibrinogen and thrombin) (TachoSil®), for decreasing occurrence of seroma after axillary lymphadenectomy.
This study was the extension of the LANTU_C_02761 study named EASIE and identified as NCT00751114 (core study comparing insulin glargine versus sitagliptin in insulin-naïve patients treated with metformin and not adequately controlled). All patients with Glycosylated Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) ≥ 7% at the end of the core study had the possibility to enter this extension study if they met the other inclusion criteria and did not present with any exclusion criteria. The visit 14 of the core study (week 24) was the visit 1 (baseline, week 0) of the extension study which consisted of a 12-week treatment period. The objectives of this extension study were: - To assess the glycemic control (HbA1c <7%) of a 3-month combination therapy with metformin, insulin glargine and sitagliptin in patients not adequately controlled by a previous treatment with metformin plus either insulin glargine or sitagliptin. - To assess the effect of insulin glargine in combination with sitagliptin on HbA1c level, fasting plasma glucose, 7-point glucose profile, hypoglycemia occurrence, body weight and overall safety.
The primary objective of the study is to estimate the progression-free survival rate at 12 months for the two arms of the study. Secondary objectives include the evaluation of overall objective response rate to treatment, progression-free survival, overall survival, safety and documentation of potential immunogenicity of aflibercept. This study was a non-comparative randomized trial and was not powered for a comparison of any of the efficacy endpoints. Rather, the aim of the trial was to get, for all endpoints, an estimation of the efficacy and safety of aflibercept combined with a modified FOLFOX6 regimen. In such type of non-comparative randomized trial, the control FOLFOLX6 arm was intended to only act as a check on the similarity of the current patients to the historical controls with respect to clinical outcome when given FOLFOX6 treatment.
Combined inhaled treatment with long acting adrenergics and steroids in an unique inhaler plays an important role in the management of non-mild asthma. Some studies have demonstrated that the use of spacers achieve better lung deposition and decrease the number of side effects. Recently a new combined treatment for asthma has been developed (extrafine formoterol plus beclomethasone dipropionate). The small size of the extrafine particles of this new combination get the small airway and theorically improve their positive effect. Some authors have stated that the use of a spacer with extrafine particle could decrease the effectiveness of this treatment due to the adhesion of particles on the walls of the spacer because of the electrostatic characteristics of plastic spacers. However, there are no clinical or functional studies demonstrating the role of this phenomena in the control of asthmatic patients. The investigators' hypothesis is that the benefit of using spacers with this new treatment is at least equal in magnitude than the loss of efficacy because of the adhesion of particles on the wall of the spacer and then the investigators hypothesized that the use of spacer with extrafine formoterol-beclomethasone do not suppose a decrease in clinical or functional control in stable moderate-severe asthma patients.
The Redes registry is set up to document the overall clinical performance and costs of the Endeavor Resolute coronary stent in a "real life" subject population of 450 patients that require a stent in Spain. Primary objectives are the overall cost for patients during initial hospitalization and at 1-year follow-up, as well as the MACE rate at 30 days, 6 months and 12 months post procedure.
This study will characterize the effect of elevated gastric pH mediated by the proton-pump inhibitor, esomeprazole, on the relative bioavailability of lapatinib in subjects with metastatic ErbB2 positive breast cancer.
The Health Enhancing Strength Training in Nonagenarians (STRONG) is a randomised control trial to assess the effectiveness of an aerobic and strength training program for improving functional capacity and quality of life in nonagenarians. Sixty (51 women) nonagenarians (age range: 90-102 years) who live in a geriatric nursing home will be randomly assigned to either a usual care (control) group (n=30) or an intervention (training) group (n=30). Participants allocated in the usual care group will receive general physical activity guidelines and participants allocated in the intervention group will also enroll in three weekly non-consecutive individualized training sessions (~45-50 min each) during 8 weeks. The exercise program will consist of muscular strength [with a special focus on leg press at 30% (start of the program) to 70% 1 repetition maximum (end)] and aerobic exercises (cycle-ergometry during 3-5 to 15 minutes at 12-14 points in the rate of perceived exertion scale). Results from STRONG will help to better understand the potential of regular physical activity for improving the well-being of the oldest population groups.
The purpose of this study is to assess the long-term safety and tolerability and to explore the long-term efficacy of zonisamide as monotherapy treatment in subjects with newly diagnosed partial seizures.
The purpose of this study is to compare a 2-hour versus every 4-hour turning regimen on the incidence of grade > II pressure ulcers (PU) in patients in ICU on mechanical ventilation ≥ 24h that use alternating-pressure air mattresses (APAMs).
An observational cohort study on safety and efficacy to generate additional data on the benefit/risk profile of the 150 mg dose of Pradaxa in patients with renal impairment
