There are about 21071 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Spain. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Cluster headache is a primary headache condition characterized by clusters of one-sided, high-intensity pain attacks. The headache may be episodic or chronic. Treatment options are limited and their effects unsatisfactory. An important nerve pathway involved in the pain attacks has a switching station at the sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) located in the depth of the facial bones. SPG is a known therapy target for cluster headache. The area can be identified on CT images, but is difficult to access due to its location. Thus, the Multiguide navigation system has been developed to enable precise delivery of the drugs that target SPG activity. In Trondheim, two phase 1 / Phase 2 study have been carried out using botulinum toxin A (Botox®) against SPG in patient with chronic cluster headache and chronic migraine. The results indicate that such a treatment strategy is safe and beneficial. The current study is a randomized, placebo-controlled, triple-blinded study to investigate whether precise single-injection of botulinum toxin A reduces the frequency of attacks in chronic cluster headache .
RATIONALE of the project. Adults with Down syndrome (DS) present severe sleep disorders that are under recognized by caregivers. Aging in DS population increases the prevalence of both Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Alzheimer´s disease (AD) dementia at much higher rates than in the general population. AD increases the risk of sleep disturbances and OSA, which in turn worsen cognitive performance and behavioral function. Our hypothesis is that adults with DS and AD dementia will present a higher prevalence of sleep disorders (sleep disruption, sleep circadian disorders and OSA) than in DS without dementia. There are no data evaluating nocturnal sleep in adults with DS with AD dementia. The main objective is to evaluate the prevalence of sleep disturbances in adult subjects with DS and AD dementia, by means of subjective and objectives sleep measures.
Validate a simple clinical tool to evaluate physical activity (the question "How many minutes does it walk per day?" Or equivalent), compared to the rest of the collected physical activity data (PROactive questionnaire and objective physical activity data by means of an accelerometer record) in patients with COPD.
Quasi-experimental intervention multicenter trial of patients treated with new antibiotics (before-after study). The study will be carried out in 14 hospitals of the Andalusian Public Health System with representation from all the provinces and has been designed in two phases: 1. A first phase in which an observational study of historical preintervention cohorts of patients who have received either empirical or targeted treatment with ceftaroline, tedizolid, dalbavancin, ceftazidime-avibactam, ceftolozane-tazobactam and isavuconazole from January 2016 to December 2019 will be developed. Case detection will be carried out by locating the antimicrobial prescriptions in the electronic prescribing systems and / or pharmaceutical management systems of each hospital. A set of epidemiological, clinical, microbiological and prognostic variables will be completed in each case. 2. A second phase or intervention period that will be applied to the cohort of patients treated with new antibiotics (intervention cohort) from January 2020 to June 2021. A quasi-experimental intervention study will be carried out through the development of a Program for Optimizing the use of Antibiotics (PROA) in Spanish, Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) in English, in the participating hospitals. It will consist in the development of a consensus document on the use of new antibiotics following a Delphi methodology, dissemination of the consensus document / guide among the participating hospitals and audit on the prescription of new antimicrobials after the implementation of the guide based on providing non-imposition advice and positive reinforcement to the prescriber. The recommendations will be consigned in a structured form, which will allow to evaluate the degree of follow-up of the recommendations. The audit will be performed on day 0-1 of the prescription. 3. Cohort of bacteremia due to multiresistant microorganisms ("safety" cohort): In order to evaluate the safety of the use of new antimicrobials against therapeutic alternatives in syndromes where they are potentially a preferred option and parallel to the two phases, episodes for bacteremia by carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, carbapenem-resistant enterobacteria, vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus occurred in participating hospitals from 2017 to 2021 will be collected.
Open and multicenter randomized clinical trial (1:1) comparing limited screening with extended screening with the performance of Positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) scan in the search for neoplasms in patients with unprovoked venous thromboembolic disease at high risk of developing cancer at follow-up. Introduction: Cancer screening in patients with unprovoked venous thromboembolic disease (VTE) is controversial. In the last years, a score has been developed that selects patients at high risk of developing cancer during follow-up. Objective: To estimate the impact of an active cancer search strategy using 18-fluordesoxiglucose (FDG) PET-CT in unprovoked VTE with high-risk to develop cancer. Specific Objectives: 1) Number of neoplasms diagnosed in the screening process: 2) number of neoplasms diagnosed at an early stage, 3) impact on survival of the strategy; and 4) impact on the quality of life. Cancer will be considered from 30 days up to 12 months after the diagnosis of VTE. Scope: 20 Spanish hospitals. Design: Open-label, multicentre Randomized clinical trial (1: 1) comparing the performance of PET-CT versus limited screening for cancer. Population: Patients older than 18 years with unprovoked VTE at high risk of presenting cancer at follow-up (≥3 points in the score of Jara-Palomares et al., Chest 2017). Follow-up: 12 months after VTE. Sample: The sample size calculated is 650 patients, to obtain a power of 80%, with a level of significance of 5%, and taking into account a 10% loss of follow-up.
To evaluate the efficacy of romiplostim for the treatment of CIT in patients receiving chemotherapy for the treatment of NSCLC, ovarian cancer, or breast cancer measured by the ability to administer on-time, full-dose chemotherapy
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy of ponatinib in children aged 1 to < 18 years with advanced leukemias, lymphomas, and solid tumors.
The purposes of this study are 1) to determine the pharmacokinetics of alcohol after experimental administration of alcohol simulating a "binge-drinking" episode in young adults 2) to determine the profile of biomarkers of acute damage and exposure/consumption to alcohol 3) to determine the pharmacokinetic parameters and evaluate the acute effects alcohol and its relationship with biomarkers.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of CC-99282 alone and in combination with anti-lymphoma agents in participants with relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphomas.
Senographe Pristina is a new mammography system (hardware and software) designed to improve patient experience, patient throughput, and radiographer experience while maintaining the imaging capabilities and image quality of full-field digital mammography (FFDM) and digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) breast imaging. The purpose of this study is to assess patient experience as it relates to discomfort when patient-assisted compression is compared against the standard compression mode of Senographe Pristina in asymptomatic adult women undergoing screening FFDM mammography. The technical/clinical quality assessment of mammograms is essential to ensure that high quality images are consistently used in a breast cancer screening program. Advances in mammography equipment may improve the image quality. Therefore, the investigators hypothesize that the introduction of Senographe Pristina may have an effect on the technical/clinical quality of screening mammograms.
