Conventional Vestibular Training Versus Immersive Virtual Reality- Based Vestibular in Multiple Sclerosis

The effectiveness of convectional vestibular training for balance and dizziness rehabilitation in people with multiple sclerosis has been recently demonstrated in a meta-analysis by this research team (doi: 10.3390/jcm9020590). Furthermore, non-immersive virtual reality-based environments seem to be useful for balance and gait rehabilitation in this population (doi: 10.1177/0269215518768084). However, nothing is known about the feasibility and effectiveness of immersive virtual reality-based rehabilitation in people with multiple sclerosis. The primary aim of this research is to determine the feasibility, safety and effectiveness of an immersive virtual reality-based vestibular training for dizziness, balance and fatigue rehabilitation, compared to conventional vestibular training.

Effects of Multicomponent Physical Exercise Program and Mediterranean Diet in Alzheimer's Disease

This study is a randomized, parallel-group, single blinded controlled clinical trial. The general objective of this multicomponent physical exercise program (MPEP) associated with a Mediterranean Diet (MeDi) is to decrease the risk of falls and fractures through the improvement of the bone health and physical functions of people with Alzheimer Disease. Patients allocated to the intervention group will perform a MPEP with a MeDi during 6 months, with a frequency of 3 sessions per week, and approximately 45-50 minutes of duration each session. During the study, 4 evaluations will be carried out to assess the effects of the interventions on bone mineral density, gait, balance, and fall risk: ((1) Baseline (pre-intervention); 2) 1st post-intervention after 1 month; 3) 2nd post-intervention after 3 months; 4) Final, 3rd post-intervention after 6 months

BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE: There is very limited literature available on the arrhythmia occurrence in the context of an infection by the SARS-CoV2 virus. On the other hand, treatment strategies against the SARS-CoV2 virus may carry a risk of QTc prolongation and pro-arrhythmia/sudden death which may be amplified by concomitant use of other QTc-prolonging drugs and/or ion disbalances. COVIDAR is an international initiative to monitor the occurrence of arrhythmic events in the context of the SARS-CoV2 infection, to identify potential modifiable predisposing factors to reduce their incidence and to inform the best arrhythmia management options in this patient population. MAIN OBJECTIVE: To describe the incidence and type of arrhythmic events in the context of the SARS-CoV2 infection. STUDY DESIGN: patient registry (observational). Patients will not undergo any additional investigations. Only data that is generated during routine clinical care will be collected. STUDY POPULATION: Patients admitted to the hospital highly suspected of or with confirmed COVID-19.

Map of Risks in Home Care From Primary Health Care, an Approach From Health Care Quality.

Background: Home health care is very complex. The registration of many disassembled information makes it difficult to interpret and does not allow the identification of critical areas for risk management. Hypothesis / Research question: The availability of a risk map, with visual alerts to identify the critical areas, will facilitate the implementation of safe practices and improve the safety of patients included in the DOMicillary care program (ATDOM). Objectives: To design and evaluate the effectiveness of the availability of a Visual Risks Map (MRV) in the computerized medical histories of ATDOM patients in the improvement of their safety and quality of life.(QL). Methods: Once MRV is designed, the investigators will conduct a randomized clinical trial by conglomerates (Primary Care centers) to evaluate whether the fact of having this MRV (intervention) in the medical histories of ATDOM patients reduces avoidable income, falls and wounds and improves QL. Analysis plan: Baseline description: socio-demographic characteristics, risk's levels in the different areas and other covariates in the control and intervention groups. Chi-square test to compare frequency of outcomes between control and intervention groups. Cox regression model to estimate time until the outcomes appear, adjusting for the different variables. Expected results: The frequency of avoidable hospital admissions / emergencies' visits, falls and sores / infections will be significantly lower in the group of patients who have MRV in their clinical histories. Their qL wil be better. Applicability and Relevance: It is a feasible and easy-to-implement project. It provides a practical utility for a lot of information that the investigators record and affects a key aspect of quality of care.

Ozone Auto-hemotherapy for COVID-19 Pneumonia

This is a multicenter, randomized, controlled, open-label clinical trial testing the use of ozone auto-hemotherapy in hospitalized patients with Covid-19 pneumonia. Eligible patients will be randomly assigned to receive either ozone auto-hemotherapy plus standard treatment, or standard treatment alone. Patients in the ozone auto-hemotherapy group will receive treatment mixing 100-200ml of blood with ozone at a concentration of 40 μg / mL with a gas volume of 200 ml. Treatment will occur every 12h during 5 days. Standard treatment will be the one used in each hospital participating in the trial. All analyses will be done according to the intention-to-treat principle

Influence of COVID-19 Infection in Thromboembolic Venous Disease: National Cohort Study

There is an urgent need to understand the outcomes of COVID-19 infected patients regarding the thromboembolic venous disease. Capturing real-world data and sharing Spanish national experience will inform the management of this complex group of patients, improving their clinical care. Interventions are needed to reduce both the incidence and severity of COVID-19. Although it shares characteristics with other similar viruses that also arose in outbreaks, the physiological mechanisms of the virus and its responses on the host are not yet fully known. There are indications that the clinical picture of this disease is in a procoagulant state, with possible increase in episodes of thromboembolic disease. This study aims to analyze the influence of COVID-19 on the incidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in lower and upper limbs, and the variation in the clinical presentation of COVID-19, as well as to provide new evidence applicable to the clinical management of these patients and the establishment of prognostic factors that help early take therapeutic decisions. To this end, an observational, multicenter, national cohorts study will be carried out, sponsored by the Spanish Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery (SEACV) and the Spanish Chapter of Phlebology and Linfology through its Vascular Research Network (RIV), which will collect demographic variables, comorability, concomitant treatment, analytical status and complementary and ultrasound diagnostic tests, parameters of clinical evolution, therapeutic and complications and mortality to 30 days. All national centers you wish to participate through a secure server that will be accessed through the SEACV and CEFyL website. The global community has recognised that rapid dissemination and completion of studies in COVID-19 infected patients is a high priority, so we encourage all stakeholders (local investigators, ethics committees, IRBs) to work as quickly as possible to approve this project. This investigator-led, non-commercial, non-interventional study is extremely low risk, or even zero risk. This study does not collect any patient identifiable information (including no dates) and data will not be analysed at hospital-level.
