There are about 25560 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Germany. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Intensive care patients with established invasive intracranial neuromonitoring due to neurotrauma are subjected to a repeated non-invasive sonographic recording of the optic-nerve-sheath-diameter (ONSD). The recorded images are analyzed through a machine-learning-algorithm and an experienced ultrasound operator. Results are correlated to the parallel recorded intracranial pressure (ICP). The study aims to establish ONSD as a supplementary for raised ICP.
The investigators will examine the effects of dynamic light therapy on circadian rhythms in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. In a randomized controlled trial (RCT), they will investigate the effects of a specific light algorithm on rhythms of serum melatonin, clock gene expression, the proteome, and metabolome, compared to standard hospital lighting, supported by the data science algorithms to improve vital-based algorithms with light interventions.
The study is designed as a pilot study. The primary objective of the current study is to collect data on the expression and progression of tooth structure loss in dental students under stressful conditions and different dietary habits using intraoral scanners (IOS). Stress levels will be evaluated using Percived Stress Scale (PSS-10). Eating habits will be queried using reflux and dietary questionnaires. The data obtained will later be used in the case-control design of a multicenter study on the same topic. Conducting the pilot study will allow for a critical evaluation of the study's design, participant retention rate, and recruitment process.
For central venous catheters (CVC) to function properly, optimal tip location is of utmost importance. One technique to verify CVC position is the ECG method. Nowadays, the ECG method is applied using the maximum P-wave amplitude (P-max). The hypothesis is that a method believed to be precise in assessing CVC position can provide the same results for CVC tip positions regardless of their respective insertion sites. Can the ECG method (at P-max) provide the same results for the position of CVC tips regardless of their insertion site?
Insomnia is characterized by the recurring difficulty to fall or remain asleep despite motivation and means to do so. People with insomnia also experience excessive daytime sleepiness and other cognitive impairments while they are awake. Facing the situation mentioned and realizing that especially early preventive measures are needed to fight the increasing costs for treatment of sleep related diseases, effective nutrients might be a good and safe option to improve sleep quality. This single-arm, open-label, prospective, observational exploratory pilot study aims at collecting first data on efficacy and safety of "Sleep Well".
This is a Phase 2, open-label, 2-cohort clinical study evaluating RP3 in combination with atezolizumab plus bevacizumab as First- or Second-line Systemic Therapy in patients with locoregionally advanced and/or metastatic Hepatocellular Carcinoma not amenable to surgical resection or standard locoregionally directed therapies.
Randomized, prospective, multicenter, open-label, controlled, parallel-group interventional trial to test the adjunctive effect of therapeutic plasma exchange in patients with early septic shock.
The goal of this subproject is to examine the hypothesized improvement of treatment with chess-based training and sleep enhancement, both together and on their own, in smokers. Participants will undergo fMRI measurements, sleep monitoring. They will then be assigned to one of the four experimental groups, including high-intensity interval training with or without chess-based training.
Prospective, 2-arm, randomised (2:1), multicentre, open-label clinical trial in patients with severe emphysema. The intervention arm will be treated with Bronchoscopic lung volume reduction in severe emphysema using thermoablation. The interventional treatment (bronchoscopic lung volume reduction) is compared with the usual conservative standard therapy (GOLD guidelines).
The subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator (S-ICD) is established in the prevention of sudden cardiac death, but recently a defect of the electrode's Sense-B component was reported in some patients. This lead to inadequate shocks due to noise. The cause and incidence of this defect are unknown. The manufacturer issued a warning regarding this defect and a possible premature depletion of the battery in some device. Independent data on the incidence of these issues is limited. Further data is needed to better understand the risk of these complications.
