There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ravulizumab for the treatment of participants with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG).
Vitamin D deficiency (defined as 25(OH)-vitamin D serum level <50 nmol/l) is cured with oral supplementation. National guidelines recommend the administration of 800 IU cholecalciferol daily for an effective treatment, especially during the winter (poor sun exposition). Cumulative intermittent administration monthly (24'000 IU) or weekly (5'600 IU) is possible. Commercially available intermittent pharmaceutical forms in Switzerland are liquid (oily or alcoholic solution). The study aims to compare the rise of vitamin D3 levels after treatment between newly developed soft capsules and monthly solution (primary outcome), and to evaluate the effect of a loading dose (without infringing the cumulative maximal dose of 4'000 IU per day) on the achievement of optimal values >75 nmol/l (secondary outcome). The investigators will use newly developed soft capsules and alcoholic solution, which are commercially available in Switzerland.
The intended pilot project aims at evaluating the feasibility and acceptability of questionnaires about resilience and quality of life in two different patient groups (either with a gynaecological carcinoma ora chronic gynaecological disease). The results provided by this pilot study will build the basis of an upcoming, larger project including these questionnaires and the main objective of assessing resilience. More precisely, the study aims at answering the following questions. How is the overall resilience and quality of life in the target population at one assessment point? Are the instruments used in this pilot feasible for the target population when assessing resilience and quality of life?
This study is to assess Internet and social media use in dermatology patients
Size is a key data used daily by dietary teams; the paramedical team, nurse and diet are in charge of its measures. In pediatric intensive care unit, a reliable size of the child must be obtained. It allows to realize: - a nutritional assessment based on the World Health Organization (WHO) nutritional indices such as the Body Mass Index (BMI), growth chart monitoring and other nutritional indices. Nutritional status should be assessed and followed in pediatric intensive care as it is correlated with the prognosis of children. - an estimate of the energy needs by calculation of the rest energy expenditure. - a calculation of the body surface, useful for drug prescription, evaluation of burn scores, calculation of water and energy requirements and indexing of hemodynamic and ventilatory data. An error in size measurement results in an error in BMI, calculation of energy requirements, and body surface area. The WHO has defined "gold standard" criteria for measuring height in children, distinguishing the less than two years in whom the size is measured strictly lengthened, using a metric, and the more than two years in which height is measured standing with a stadiometer. In the context of pediatric resuscitation, the criteria for WHO size measurement are difficult to meet (coma, sedation, respiratory assistance, catheter, monitoring, proclive position, etc.) compromising standing or rectitude required for measurements. The child is a growing organism. Health book sizes and declarative sizes are not always up-to-date. It is therefore important to overcome these difficulties by using estimating or extrapolation methods that are applicable and safe in pediatric intensive care unit. Currently, in pediatric intensive care units, the size evaluation, by direct measurement, estimation or extrapolation of segmental measurement, is not systematic because of the complexity of the measurement; To date, no method is used as a reference method in pediatric intensive care. Among Children in pediatric intensive care unit (which does not usually meet the criteria of the WHO Gold Standard for Measurement of Height), to determine the optimal method for size measurement, by comparing different methods of estimating / extrapolating the size, gold standard WHO (achievable after the stay in intensive care).
Psilocybin is a classic serotonergic hallucinogen acting on the 5-HT2A receptor. It is used recreationally and in psychiatric research. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like escitalopram are first-line treatments for depression. They inhibit the serotonin transporter (SERT). This might cause a possible downregulation of postsynaptic 5-HT receptors, e.g. the 5-HT2A receptor. The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of psilocybin after escitalopram and Placebo pretreatment. Subjective and physiological effects as well as effects on gene expression will be assessed.
To examine the treatment of coronary de-novo stenosis with a sirolimus coated balloon versus a paclitaxel coated balloon
The lower urinary tract is innervated by the autonomous (sympathetic, parasympathetic) and the somatic nervous system. Afferent information from the lower urinary tract (LUT) (e.g. filling state and volume of the urinary bladder) is conducted via the dorsal roots to the sacral spinal cord and from there to the pontine micturition center (PMC) in the brain stem. The PMC has several connections to other cortical areas. These complex interactions with the cortex enable voluntary control of the LUT and are crucial for urinary continence. The integrity of this neuronal circuit is crucial for an undisturbed function. Deterioration of the nerve fibers due to a systemic neurological disease (e.g. spinal cord injury) can affect LUT function. Neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction can lead to urgency, urge incontinence, reduced bladder capacity and secondary deterioration of the upper urinary tract (i.e. kidneys). First-line therapy of neurogenic detrusor overactivity contains antimuscarinic treatment. In case of side effects or remaining detrusor overactivity, nerve stimulation (e.g. sacral neuromodulation and in effect nerve tibialis stimulation) is an accepted therapy option. The precise mechanism of action of these neuro-modulatory procedures is still unknown. Utilizing state-of-the-art neuroimaging techniques, we intend to investigate the functional activation pattern after afferent tibialis nerve stimulation as well as the association with the architecture of the sacral roots. We aime to get a better insight into functional neuromodulation and central nervous processing. The study aim is to evaluate the feasibility in healthy subjects as a pilot study for the application of these method in patients with chronic, incomplete spinal cord injury.
BEEPS describes the utility of patient reported outcomes (PRO) as simple, pragmatic, and sensitive tool to assess early treatment response of benralizumab to document the level of asthma control and change in medication after 1 to 16 weeks post-treatment initiation including use of OCS. The generated data on the time of asthma symptom relief after initiation of benralizumab will support patient management for a better disease control in severe asthma patients under benralizumab treatment. To assess long term outcomes the patients will have a last mandatory visit after 56 weeks, with no visits scheduled between week 16 and 56.
This study is to investigate sleep disorders in patients with dermatologic diseases by taking into consideration dermatologic (itch, pain) and non- dermatologic (medication, depression) factors.
