There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study will further assess ERG components obtained with different ERG devices, to be considered in a prediction model for each diagnosis. The prediction models are diaMentis proprietary software used as an ERG-based diagnostic test (classified as a Software as Medical Device, SaMD) to support the diagnosis of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder type I. They involve the processing and analysis of specific retinal biosignatures (RSPA) with the support of statistical and mathematical modelling processes e.g. machine learning and statistical learning.
This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of VE303 for participants with primary C. difficile infection (pCDI) at high risk for recurrence or subjects with recurrent C. difficile infections (rCDI).
Large interindividual variability exists in the glycemic response to exercise program, resulting in a subset of individuals known as exercise non-responders (NRs). Increasing the intensity of an exercise intervention has been proposed as one method for rescuing NRs by producing beneficial changes. However, this theory has not been tested on NRs classified using glycemic outcomes. This study will evaluate if increasing the intensity of an exercise intervention will elicit a response within previous exercise NRs.
Thrice-weekly dialysis is the accepted standard of care for hemodialysis (HD) patients. Observational studies suggest that elderly HD patients do as well and have better quality of life with less dialysis (ie twice-weekly). We propose a single-center pilot study of 40 patients to determine the feasibility of a large randomized controlled trial (RCT) designed to determine the impact of HD frequency on well-being in new HD patients above the age of 70. The primary outcomes will be metrics of feasibility and safety. We hypothesize that an adequately powered RCT that will determine whether elderly patients who dialyze twice weekly have improved well-being compared to thrice-weekly is feasible
The precise amount of protamine required to neutralize unfractionated heparin (UFH) remains unknown. This study will systematically identify the doze needed to neutralize UFH following cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
This study evaluates KRT-232, a novel oral small molecule inhibitor of MDM2, for the treatment of patients with Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC) who have failed treatment with at least one anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1 immunotherapy or in combination with avelumab in MCC patients who are anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1 treatment naïve. Inhibition of MDM2 is a novel mechanism of action in MCC.
This study will be conducted over a 3 year time period. This is a trial of an exercise intervention vs. standard of care in patients receiving chronic dialysis. The specific aims will be to determine feasibility of patient recruitment, adherence to the exercise program, and efficacy of the intervention on patient important outcomes. The exercise intervention will be delivered to randomized participants for 12 months, and consist of the prescribed use of Nordic Walking poles, online resources for exercise in the home, regular use of a pedometer to monitor progress, and regular verbal encouragement to exercise (monthly) by dialysis unit staff. Both groups will receive the same standard of care co-interventions including individualized dialysis prescriptions and health-care interactions according to practices at their centre.
While both conventional and advanced MRI techniques offer important insights into MS pathophysiology, important aspects of this inflammatory disorder are undetectable with existing MRI technology. In Multiple Sclerosis (MS), there is growing interest in PET as an imaging modality that can increase the investigator's understanding of the disease processes and may add to an understanding of MS phenotype, particularly when combined with advanced MRI techniques such as myelin water imaging.
Kidney and liver transplantation are the treatment of choice and are often the last therapeutic option offered to patients with chronic renal and liver failure. More than 70% of kidneys and liver available for transplantation are obtained from donors following neurological death. Unfortunately, compared to living donation, transplant function, graft survival, and recipient survival are consistently inferior with kidneys and liver from neurologically deceased donors. This difference lies with the exacerbated pro-inflammatory state characteristic of deceased donors. Indeed, when neurologic death occurs, the immune system releases substances in the blood that could harm organs and particularly the liver and the kidneys. We believe that achieving a better understanding of the inflammatory processes of organ donors could be greatly informative to design future randomized controlled trial assessing the effect of personalized immunosuppressive therapy on organ donors to ultimately improve the care provided to donors so as to increase the number of organs available for transplantation and enhancing the survival of received grafts
This is a phase 2a, multicenter, open-label, dose-escalation study to evaluate treatment of moderate or severe dynamic forehead lines (FHL) (frontalis) in conjunction with treatment of the glabellar complex.
