Time Needed to Perform Intermittent Catheterization in Adults With Spinal Cord Injuries

This study investigates the burden of intermittent catheterization in adult individuals with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) following spinal cord injury (SCI). Individuals will be recruited to compare two types of catheters. Each participant will use a non-hydrophilic catheter at one time point and a hydrophilic catheter at a different time point to perform intermittent catheterization. The order that participants use either a non-hydrophilic or a hydrophilic catheter will be determined randomly. The purpose of the study is to provide evidence for time spent on bladder management (performing intermittent catheterization) as well as consumer satisfaction on using both catheters.

The 'Investigating the Impact of Alzheimer's Disease Diagnostics in British Columbia' (IMPACT-AD BC) study is an observational, longitudinal cohort study that will examine the impact of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) testing for core Alzheimer's disease biomarkers on clinical decision making, diagnosis and health system utilization. In addition to data collection from physicians, the study will engage patients and their care partners in assessing the value of biomarker testing. IMPACT-AD BC investigators hypothesize that testing for CSF biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease in individuals with cognitive impairment, as part of routine clinical care, improves clinical management, diagnostic certainty, diagnostic accuracy, and healthcare resource utilization, and that patients and their care partners find the information valuable in planning for the future.

MANTRA is a prospective, multiple-arm, multi-center, global, post-market clinical follow-up study. The main objective is to monitor ongoing safety and performance of the CORCYM devices and accessories used for aortic, mitral and tricuspid valvular diseases in a real-world setting. Corcym S.r.l., is a medical device manufacturer with a broad product portfolio for cardiac surgeons, offering solutions for the treatment of aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve disease. The MANTRA Master Plan (Master Protocol) is intended as an overarching Umbrella Protocol that allows multiple sub-studies to be added, as needed. The Umbrella Master Protocol concept offers an excellent solution to provide post-marketing clinical follow-up information on the entire cardiac surgery heart valve portfolio of the sponsor in a common database, including corelab assessment of hemodynamic and structural performance, annular motion and Dynamics for one of the products. The TIDE project aims to establish personal indicators for initial treatment choice for youth with first episode depression. Specifically, 100 adolescents and young adults (age 12 to 25) with untreated major depressive disorder of recent onset will be randomly allocated in 1:1 ratio to one of two evidence-based regimens for youth depression: (A) Individual cognitive-behavioural therapy; and (B) Optimized pharmacological treatment with an antidepressant. All participants will be offered active treatment for up to 1 year and follow-up for 2 years to establish short- and long-term outcomes, including change in depressive symptoms, maintenance of remission, core role functioning, achievement of educational, occupational and social milestones, and quality of life. Baseline characteristics including duration of untreated depression, pre-existing anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, substance use, symptoms of reduced interest and activity, sleep, rhythm and melody of speech, brain function, history of childhood adversity, coping style, repetitive thinking, and family history of depression and bipolar disorder will be tested as potential moderators of outcome. Characteristics that differentially predict outcomes in those allocated to initial cognitive-behavioural therapy and those allocated to initial treatment with antidepressants will be combined into a personalized allocation algorithm.

Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis affects 3-4% of the Canadian population, of which about 10% will need a brace treatment during pubertal growth spurt. Our team has developed an innovative conception method for brace design by optimizing for the immediate in-brace correction. The model is customized to each patient. In this project, the investigators will evaluate the effectiveness of this platform's customized treatment and validate its clinical application.
