Avoiding warm ischemia time during vascular anastomosis of the renal allograft is important to prevent damage. The investigators are studying a cooling device that may control the temperature of the renal allograft during transplant surgery; attempting to keep temperatures at or below 5°C for at least 60 minutes. If found effective, this could eliminate warm ischemia and potentially prevent damage to transplanted kidneys.

Effect of Sprint Interval Training and Intermittent Fasting on Cognitive Function

Several lifestyle modifications, such as manipulating diet and exercise, have been shown to enhance cognitive function. This study aims to determine if a combination of Sprint Interval Training (SIT) and Time Restricted Eating (TRE) elicits greater enhancements in cognitive function than either of these interventions alone. SIT and TRE have both been proven to have high adherence rates and require minimal lifestyle changes, therefore the implementation of these may allow for a feasible method of improving cognition in healthy populations. A group of young adults will be randomized into either a SIT group, TRE group, or a SIT+TRE group. To assess the changes in cognitive function, cognitive tests will be performed at baseline and biweekly. Secondly, we will be monitoring the differences in the three groups in terms of body composition, which will be measured using a BodPod. It is hypothesized that the SIT+TRE group will display the greatest improvements in cognitive function and body composition versus the TRE only group and the SIT only group.

Neurocardiac Predictors of Treatment Response to rTMS in Depression

Heartbeat is controlled by the brain and is regular but flexible to change in response to environmental and internal stimuli. This feature is known as heart rate variability (HRV). Major depressive disorder (MDD) has been associated with diminished HRV and this is a reflection of abnormal brain function caused by MDD. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a treatment that stimulates specific areas of the brain. The goal of this study is to test the hypothesis that rTMS induces changes in connectivity between the area of the brain stimulated with rTMS and deeper areas in the brain associated to heart rate regulation. 110 patients with TRD will be recruited and will undergo a concurrent TMS-fMRI session before receiving a course of iTBS to the L-DLPFC for 30 sessions at 120% rMT.

Prophylactic LYMphatic Reconstruction (LYMbR) to Prevent Lymphedema After Node Dissection for Cutaneous Malignancies

Background: Lymphedema following lymph node dissection is a chronic condition that can limit physical, occupational, and social participation, impact self-image, and result in financial burden. Studies have reported lymphedema incidence rates of 39% to 73% following node dissection. Lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) has been previously used to treat established lymphedema. More recently, with imaging capabilities guided by blue dye and indocyanine green dye, the possibility of prophylactic LVA has become feasible. A 2018 systematic review of 12 studies utilizing prophylactic LVA during lymphadenectomy indicated a 2/3 reduction in the risk of lymphedema. The literature yet lacks any phase III studies with stringent controls and long term follow-up. Objectives: To assess (primary endpoint) the impact of prophylactic LVA on presence or absence of lymphedema post axillary or groin lymphadenectomy and participant quality of life. To assess (secondary endpoint) the incidence of complications related to nodal dissection. Methods: This is a phase III RCT, block randomized for upper and lower extremities, recruiting adult patients planned for an axillary or groin node dissection as a result of cutaneous malignancy. Analysis of rates of lymphedema and quality of life reports will be done. Significance: Lymphedema is a feared outcome of surgical cancer care. Its impact on patients' daily lives is profound. A reduction of incidence of this debilitating condition by 2/3 would have significant impact on numerous lives and could also reduce the health system resources needed for its management.

Reducing Sedentary Behaviour in Office Workers With a HAPA mHealth Intervention and a Just In-Time Adaptive Intervention

This study will explore the effectiveness of two different interventions, a Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) mobile health (mHealth) intervention and a Just In-Time Adaptive Intervention (JITAI), on reducing sedentary behaviour in office workers. One third of participants will receive the mHealth HAPA intervention, consisting of a theory-driven behavioural counselling session with personalized daily SMS text messages, and another third of participants will receive the JITAI intervention, a behaviour tracking mobile phone application that will alert participants once a set sedentary behaviour condition has been met. The last third of participants will act as a control where they will not receive an intervention or any further information from the letter of information. The study will take place over four weeks, with the first acting as a baseline and the intervention period filling the latter three weeks.
