There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine and capecitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether gemcitabine is more effective when given together with or without capecitabine in treating patients with biliary cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying giving gemcitabine together with capecitabine to see how well it works compared with giving gemcitabine alone in treating patients with locally advanced, unresectable, or metastatic biliary cancer.
The initial clinical investigation titled "ATS 3f(r) Aortic Bioprosthesis Model 1000 Study," was a prospective, non-randomized, multi-center study designed to evaluate the the safety and effectiveness obtained from 800 patient years using a common clinical protocol. Twenty-three (23) sites internationally and in the United States combined enrolled 405 patients. The objective of the study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the ATS 3f(r) Aortic Bioprosthesis Model 1000 equine pericardial prosthesis in a a patient population undergoing isolated aortic valve replacement of his / her native aortic valve, or replacement of a failed prosthesis with or without concomitant procedures. Addendum: After receiving PMA approval in October of 2008 of the 21mm-29mm sizes, this IDE was expanded to comply with the conditions set forth in the approval notice. Study Protocol S2001 Rev. E is a continuation of the original protocol, but is only enrolling subjects who require a 19mm ATS 3f(r) Aortic Bioprosthesis, Model 1000 and is described as "A multi-center, non-randomized trial, designed to obtain 800 patient years. Each enrolled patient will be followed for a minimum one year and annually thereafter until size 19mm product approval or study cessation. Preoperative, discharge or 30 days (which ever comes last), 3-6 month, and annual follow-up data are required.
This study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of T2000 when used to treat patients with moderate to severe essential tremor over an 18 month period.
RATIONALE: Androgens can cause the growth of prostate cancer cells. Antihormone therapy, such as flutamide, bicalutamide, leuprolide, buserelin, and goserelin, may lessen the amount of androgens made by the body. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether giving androgen suppression therapy together with radiation therapy is more effective with or without docetaxel in treating prostate cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying androgen suppression therapy, radiation therapy, and docetaxel to see how well they work compared with androgen suppression therapy and radiation therapy in treating patients with high-risk localized prostate cancer. CLOSURE: This trial closed to further accrual in November 2009. The study endpoints will not be reached.
The study was primarily designed to determine objective response, progression-free survival (PFS), and the safety and tolerability of R1507 in participants with recurrent or refractory Ewing's sarcoma, osteosarcoma, synovial sarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma and other sarcomas including alveolar soft part sarcoma, desmoplastic small round cell tumor, extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma, clear cell sarcoma, and myxoid liposarcoma.
To evaluate the safety and tolerability of atacicept and to explore if atacicept reduces Central Nervous System inflammation in subjects with RMS as assessed by frequent MRI. This study is randomised. Study medication is administered via subcutaneous (under the skin) injections.
There is little doubt of the necessity for further improvement in the prevention and therapy of end-stage renal disease. Despite the success of ARB in treating diabetic nephropathy, not all patients obtain satisfactory control of blood pressure, albuminuria and decline in renal function. Experimental data have provided us with a rationale for the potential added benefits of ET receptor blockade to the AII inhibition in diabetic renal protection. Considering the nephroprotective effect of bosentan in diabetic rats, clinical studies are warranted to assess whether ET receptor antagonism has additive renoprotective effects on top of AII inhibition.
This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of two dosing regimens of a compound known as TRU-015 in combination with methotrexate (MTX) in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis.
To assess the efficacy of 3 oral dosing regimens of ATI 7505 compared to placebo in patients with PDS by comparing at the end of Day 42 the percentage of patients in each treatment group who have had adequate relief of postprandial distress syndrome symptoms on at least 50% of the treatment days.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of tumor tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This research trial is studying gene expression profiling of cervical cancer progression in biopsies and tissue samples from patients with cervical lesions.
