There are about 10004 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Brazil. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of early mobilization versus traditional immobilization rehabilitation programs after surgical Achilles tendon repair on the mechanical (torque-angle and torque-velocity relationships) and electrical (neuromuscular activation) properties of the plantar- and dorsiflexor muscles, gastrocnemius medialis morphology (muscle architecture), functional performance, and the mechanical and material properties (force-elongation and stress-strain relationships) of the injured and uninjured Achilles tendon. The hypothesis is that the early mobilization could reduce the deleterious effects of the joint immobilization and improve the tendon healing.
The main objective of this trial is to investigate the effects of a training protocol for the foot and ankle complex on the prevalence of running related injuries on long distance runners.
The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy and safety of the new pulmonary surfactant produced by Butantan Institute among premature infants with gestational age below 34 weeks with RDS, comparing to the pulmonary surfactants commercially available in Brazil.
The purpose of this study was to characterize the safety and tolerability of long-term administration of evolocumab in adults with known coronary artery disease and hypercholesterolemia.
The purpose of this research study is to learn if the medication Memantine Hydrochloride (the study medication) can help adolescents and young adults with Down syndrome. Dr. Alberto Costa and his research team want to see if a 16-week treatment with this medication can improve the participant's ability to learn and remember things. In this study, memantine hydrochloride will be used. Thus, the researchers want to learn whether the study drug can help improve memory in young adults with Down syndrome. To test the effect of the study medicine, half of the people in the study will receive the study medicine and half will receive a placebo (an inactive substance). Memantine is an approved medication to treat memory and thinking problems in persons with Alzheimer disease. However, little is known about the effect of this medication in persons with Down syndrome and it has not been approved for use in persons with Down syndrome.
RIvaroxaban for Valvular heart diseasE and atRial fibrillation trial (RIVER trial).
The purpose of the study was to assess the use of Multikinase Inhibitors (MKIs) in the treatment of patients with a progressive differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) refractory to radioactive iodine (RAI) who do not have any symptoms.
This study is a randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, parallel group, multicenter, non-inferiority study. The study will enroll adult and adolescent asthmatic subjects who are currently receiving mid dose inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) plus long-acting beta2-agonist (LABA) (equivalent to fluticasone propionate [FP]/salmeterol 250/50 microgram [mcg]twice daily [BD]), either via a fixed dose combination product or through separate inhalers. The study consists of a LABA washout period of 5 days and a run-in period of 4 weeks, followed by a treatment period of 24 weeks, and a follow up contact period of one week. The total duration of the study is 30 weeks. Approximately 1461 subjects will be randomized to one of the following three treatments (487 per treatment): fluticasone furoate (FF)/vilanterol (VI) 100/25 mcg once daily (OD) in the evening (PM) via ELLIPTA™ inhaler plus placebo BD via ACCUHALER™/DISKUS™; FP/salmeterol 250/50 mcg BD via ACCUHALER/DISKUS inhaler plus placebo OD (PM) via ELLIPTA inhaler; FP 250 mcg BD via ACCUHALER/DISKUS inhaler plus placebo OD (PM) via ELLIPTA inhaler. In addition, all subjects will be supplied with albuterol/salbutamol inhalation aerosol to use as needed to treat acute asthma symptoms. This study will determine if FF/VI 100/25 mcg OD via ELLIPTA inhaler is non-inferior to FP/salmeterol 250/50 mcg BD via ACCUHALER/DISKUS inhaler in adult and adolescent asthmatic subjects already adequately controlled on a twice-daily ICS/LABA. SERETIDE, ELLIPTA, ACCUHALER, RELVAR, and DISKUS are trademarks of the GlaxoSmithKline Group of Companies.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of eculizumab in the treatment of refractory generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) as an extension study for the participants who previously completed Study ECU-MG-301(NCT01997229).
A single blind randomized controlled trial (the MoVe ICU study) will be conducted to evaluate the effects on critical patients on invasive mechanical ventilation of early mobilization with a cycle ergometer.
