Primary To evaluate the efficacy of satavaptan on top of diuretic drugs in reducing the recurrence of ascites. Secondary To evaluate the tolerability and safety of satavaptan on top of diuretic drugs over a 52-week treatment period in patients with cirrhosis of the liver and recurrent ascites. The one-year double blind placebo controlled period is extended up to 2 years in a long term safety study (PASCCAL-2).

Preoperative chemotherapy is considered to play a role in early stage non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) .The use of preoperative Cisplatin/Gemcitabine chemotherapy has proven feasible and without excessive morbidity or mortality in the Phase II setting. The aim of the present Phase III study is to determine whether 3 cycles of preoperative chemotherapy with Cisplatin/Gemcitabine improves progression free survival of NSCLC patients versus surgery alone. Postoperative chemotherapy will not be utilized in this Phase III trial.
The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of two methods of treating cancer of the cervix. Half the patients will receive gemcitabine plus cisplatin while undergoing radiation therapy, followed by adjuvant gemcitabine and cisplatin and the other half will receive cisplatin along with radiation therapy without adjuvant therapy.
