Fluorouracil Treatment Via Colon for Colorectal Cancer

Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a commonly used drug for colorectal cancer (CRC). Thermosensitive hydrogel presents a promising carrier for 5-FU to address challenges encountered with traditional administration methods. We propose an integrated approach utilizing colonic transendoscopic enteral tubing to cover the entire colon flexibly, coupled with a thermo-sensitive gel to enhance the adhesion of 5-FU. This clinical trial aims to assess the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of this approach for treating CRC.

Using an End-of-life Conversation Game to Engage Patients With Cancer in Advance Care Planning: Phase 2

The goal of this clinical trial is to explore feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of end-of-life conversation game "Hello" as a tool to help individuals with various solid cancer types (including: breast, gastro-intestinal, lung, melanoma, head and neck, and/or genito-urinary cancers) treated at Penn State Health clinics and their loved ones perform advance care planning (ACP). The main questions it aims to answer are: What modifications and/or adaptations are necessary to Hello for use in cancer populations? What impact does participation in Hello event have on health care usage (e.g., number of hospitalizations, ICU admissions, emergency department visits, etc.)? How feasible is it to randomize participants to play either Hello for Cancer or Table Topics? Participants will: - Complete pre-game questionnaires - Play either Hello or Table Topics game - Complete post-game questionnaires - Participate in a focus group - Complete a telephone follow up interview 1-4 months after their event This study is a continuation of NCT06028152.

The goal is to construct a plasma metabolite database for multi-cancer patients. Simultaneously, we will delve into the exploration and validation of a series of metabolic biomarkers for early multi-cancer diagnosis. The objective is to establish a safer, more convenient, and more sensitive early screening method, thereby providing a reliable scientific foundation and critical evidence for improving the early diagnostic process for individuals at high risk of multi-cancer.

Incidence and Risk Factors of Low Anterior Resection Syndrome

Sphincter sparing surgery is oftentimes associated with bowel dysfunction complaints, namely the low anterior resection syndrome (LARS). The LARS questionnaire is widely used to assess this syndrome. With advances in colorectal surgery, sparing sphincter surgeries are gaining popularity. But symptoms after surgery can affect the quality of life which has psychomotor effects. Low anterior resection syndrome score is a worldwide known questionnaire. Many countries have accredited validation and translation of this questionnaire, but to our knowledge; it is the first time in Egypt.
