Impostor Syndrome and Burnout in Swiss Residents and Chief Residents Anaesthesiologists

Surveys including a demographic chart, the Clance Impostor phenomenon scale (CIPS) and the Malash burnout inventory for medical personnel (MBI-HSS-MP) will be sent to residents and chief-residents in anesthesiology in Latin Switzerland (VD, VS, GE, Ti). A qualitative study will then explore the experiences and coping strategies of self-doubt and impostor syndrome of junior resident anesthesiologists working at Geneva University Hospital, during their transition from mandatory training in internal medicine to anesthesiology.

The 4th Trimester Initiative: The Impact of Parental Support on Pregnant Trainee Wellbeing

The goal of this clinical trial is to determine the impact of a parental support package for new trainee mothers which focuses on mentorship, lactation, and sleep, and access to perinatal care. The main questions it aims to answer are whether this set of interventions will improve trainee wellbeing and decrease medical error. Participants will be randomized to intervention and control groups. The intervention group will receive: 1. A Snoo smart sleep bassinet 2. A Willow wearable breast pump 3. Access to Maven Clinic for 24/7 on-demand perinatal care 4. A faculty mentor in their own department The control group will receive the standard support currently offered by training programs. All participants will wear a Fitbit to track sleep and will take a series of surveys querying pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences; wellbeing; and professional satisfaction. Researchers will compare intervention and control groups to see if the intervention group has: 1. decreased rates of burnout 2. increased professional fulfillment 3. decreased thoughts of leaving the profession 4. increased perception of organizational and personal value alignment 5. increased sleep 6. decreased risk of medical errors 7. increased personal fulfillment of breastfeeding goals 8. decreased risk of postpartum depression

Mastery Learning in Communication Skills

The goal of this study is to determine whether mastery learning in communication skills can improve skills in a simulated environment and have translational improvements in outcomes. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does mastery learning improve skills in the simulation laboratory? 2. Does mastery learning improve clinical skills as seen by milestone performance? and 3 Does mastery learning improve burnout levels? The study is a multi-institutional randomized controlled trial of anesthesiology residents from five different residency programs. Participants will be randomized to mastery training in communication skills and standard of care, which is vicarious learning. Researchers will compare these two groups to see if mastery learning improves skills and translational outcomes.

Floatation Experience in Nurses and Physicians

The goal of this observational study is to monitor the floatation experience and continue the program as long as deemed important. The main question it aims to answer is: will inventory wellbeing scores increase according to the number of floatation sessions accrued? Nurses (registered, practitioner, and anesthetist) and physicians, employed at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Trauma Center, Mercy Health, will be welcomed to participate in the floatation experience. Participants will be given an option to complete the Wellbeing Inventory survey prior to each floatation session.

FOREST is a positive emotion skills program designed to target mental health and coping needs for frontline violence prevention workers at READI Chicago. Ten skills are taught over a period of nine months during existing meetings and wellness activities, as well as in online modules in READI's Learning Management System (LMS). Through infusing the FOREST skills throughout READI, we hope to inspire organizational culture change that will emphasize the importance of wellbeing and enhance resilience, therefore reducing burnout and turnover.
