NCT ID: NCT01649115 Not yet recruiting - Childhood Obesity Clinical Trials

The Healthy Lifestyles Passport Program: a Nutrition Education Program to Prevent Childhood Obesity

HLPP
Start date: August 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Healthy Lifestyles Passport Program (HLPP) in preventing infant and childhood obesity. It is hypothesized that the participants in the intervention arm will exhibit less excessive weight-for-length gain from 4- to 6-months of age. In 2-years and 5-years, it is predicted that the participants in the intervention arm will yield lower Body Mass Index (BMI) z-scores than the participants in the control arm, who receive usual care.

Safety and Efficacy Study of Intracranially Implanted Carmustine to Treat Newly Diagnosed Malignant Glioma

Start date: August 2012
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to determine the safety and efficacy of intracranially implanted Carmustine in the treatment of patients with primary malignant glioma.

NCT ID: NCT01657708 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Shared Decision Making With Patients

Implementation of Shared Decision Making Model in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Setting

Start date: August 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: Shared Decision Making (SDM) refers to a process of health care delivery in which practitioners and clients seeking help with decisions, collaborate to access relevant information and enable client-centered selections of health care resources (1, 2). SDM leads to better treatment adherence and outcomes for people with a medical problem (3). SDM principles have previously been used in psychiatry to improve antipsychotic and antidepressant medication adherence (4, 5); however, these principles have yet to be applied to psychiatric rehabilitation (6). The current research uniquely aims to test the development and implementation of a SDM intervention for people with psychotic spectrum disorders (e.g., schizophrenia and affective disorder) during the referral process to psychiatric rehabilitation services. The study will be conducted this year using a randomly selected sample from the population of people with psychotic spectrum disorders hospitalized in SHALVATA psychiatric hospital in Israel. It aims to facilitate better treatment and rehabilitation outcomes. It has received the support and approval of the Mental Health Division of the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Israel, the institutional review board (IRB) by the university of Haifa, Israel and a Helsinki committee approval by SHALVATA psychiatric hospital and the MOH in Israel. NCT ID: NCT01659697 Not yet recruiting - Prediabetes Clinical Trials

Diabetes Prevention in Prediabetic Patients

DPEP
Start date: August 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This study will evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of two interventions of lifestyle ( intensive and less intensive) to prevent diabetes in patients from Ethiopian origin, aged 25 to 55 years old with prediabetes living in Israel and insured by Clalit Health Services in the Central district, using resources existing in this Health Care system (HMO).

NCT ID: NCT01661569 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Well-being, Work Stress

A Randomised Controlled Trial to Investigate the Effects of a Mindfulness Smartphone App on Well-being in the Workplace

Start date: August 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

We propose a randomised controlled trial in a workplace setting to investigate whether a smartphone-delivered programme of mindfulness meditation influences psychological and biological indicators of well-being. We hypothesise that after 8 weeks participants who complete the meditation programme will show increases in psychological well-being and reduced activation of stress-related biological pathways.

NCT ID: NCT01662596 Not yet recruiting - Pregnancy Clinical Trials

Detection of Risk Factors for Fetal Anomalies in a Rural Hospital Population

Start date: August 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of the study is to estimate the rate of risk factors for appearance of disease or fetal malformations in a population who turn to hospital "Hillel Yaffe" and examine whether there is a difference in the rate of early testing for diseases or birth defects in the fetus. Understanding the population and its risk factors, will allow specific reference to these risk factors to lowering them to eventually reduce the rate of congenital malformations in this population.

NCT ID: NCT01665001 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Precursor Lymphoid Neoplasms

Personalized Therapy of Precursor Lymphoid Neoplasms

Start date: August 2012
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary goal of this study by The Polish Adult Leukemia Group (PALG) is to verify if individual therapeutic approach taking into account biological and phenotypic differences as well as response at the level of minimal residual disease is associated with improved outcome of adults with precursor lymphoid neoplasms

NCT ID: NCT01665014 Not yet recruiting - Multiple Myeloma Clinical Trials

Total Marrow Irradiation and High-dose Melphalan for Double Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Multiple Myeloma

Start date: August 2012
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate if the use total marrow irradiation (TMI) as a sole preparation for the first autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (autoHSCT) followed by high-dose melphalan used prior to second autoHSCT is safe and effective in patients with multiple myeloma (MM).

NCT ID: NCT01665625 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Unresectable Pancreatic Cancer

Regional Versus Systemic Chemotherapy in the Treatment of Unresectable Pancreatic Cancer

Start date: August 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Systemic chemotherapy with cytotoxic drug is of limited effectiveness in advanced pancreatic cancer patients. Gemcitabine has been used as the first-line drug for advance pancreatic cancer for over two decades and combinations of gemcitabine with different chemotherapeutic drugs have been investigated to improve the outcomes of pancreatic cancer. However, no substantial improvement in patient survival has been achieved. Locoregional chemotherapy via intra-arterial perfusion or chemoemoblization takes advantage of the increasing local drug concentrations and reducing systemic toxicities. In this study, the investigators hypothesis that artery infusion chemotherapy had a better antitumor effect than systemic chemotherapy. The investigators will analyze and evaluate the effect and safety of an implanted percutaneous left subclavian artery port-catheter drug delivery system for regional chemotherapy of inoperable pancreatic carcinoma.
