Filter by:The main hypothesis of this study is that contrast-enhanced CT lymphography can be used for preoperative visualization of sentinel lymph nodes in breast cancer patients. We assume that CT lymphography is a high-sensitivity and high-specificity method for sentinel lymph nodes' mapping in breast cancer patients. We also assume that positive predictive value and negative predictive value for identification of presence or absence of metastases in sentinel lymph nodes (SLN) will be high enough for preoperative diagnosis of SLN metastases in breast cancer patients. This study will use CT lymphography with periareolar injection of iopamidol and standard protocols of sentinel lymph nodes biopsy using intraoperative indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence.
The objective was to find out the impact of COVID-19 on stage of breast cancer at presentation and its effects on overall onco-surgical management. The investigator carried out this research to see the presenting stage of breast cancer in the participants in this pandemic and correlate its effect on stage of breast cancer and upstaging of disease
This study is a single-arm, single-center exploratory clinical study. Twenty patients with early-stage HER2-positive breast cancer are planned to be included, and the primary objective is to evaluate the efficacy of neoadjuvant regimen of Pyrotinib in combination with trastuzumab + pertuzumab.
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women worldwide. For early stage breast cancer, adjuvant radiotherapy is essential to minimize loco-regional disease recurrence. However, significant portions of the heart and the lungs are exposed to low dose radiation during radiotherapy, which result in stochastic side effects among breast cancer survivors. Inspired by 3D printing technology, we approached this issue with an in-house made PERSonalized BReAst holder system (PERSBRA). PERSBRA is composed of a 3D-printed plastic holder covering the whole breast and an air-filled interface. Its main function is to reproducibly adjust the breast position to decrease heart and lung radiation exposure in tangential fields. Here we propose to measure the performance of PERSBR in terms of radiation dosimetry in 50 patients receiving scheduled whole breast irradiation. For customized PERSBRA, body shape of the patient with or without a bustier corset will be captured with a handheld 3D scanner and input into a 3D printer for PERSBRA design and manufacturing. A participant will receive two more CT scans in addition to the simulation scan with PERSBRA in place before the first and the sixth fractions of irradiation. These images will be analyzed for dosimetric parameters in the presence/absence of PERSBRA as well as position reproducibility. The data will provide proof-of-principle evidence for the clinical utility of PERSBRA and will facilitate its further refinement.
The activity of trastuzumab in early-stage, HER2-positive breast cancer, has been demonstrated in many studies, with meta-analyses showing that in combination with a variety of chemotherapy backbones, trastuzumab reduces the risk of recurrence by nearly half, and death by a third. However, treatment with trastuzumab can result in cardiotoxicity, including heart failure, as well as the significant cost of treatment and the requirement for patients to attend the chemotherapy unit for treatment every 3 weeks for one year. Therefore there has been increasing interest in identifying which patients can safely have less treatment. The investigators therefore propose a real-world, single arm, multicentre trial evaluating 6 months of HER2 targeted therapy, for patients with early-stage, HER2 positive breast cancer, who achieve a pathological complete response (pCR) with upfront systemic chemotherapy and HER2 targeted therapy.
This study will explore and better understand the value, usage, and benefits of a tear-based screening test for breast cancer as a supplemental tool for screening mammograms. This tear-based screening test was developed and validated by Namida Lab, Inc., a high complexity Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified lab.
This study aims to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability and preliminary effects of self-applied acupressure on arthralgia-fatigue-sleep disturbance symptom cluster in breast cancer survivors receiving aromatase inhibitors. This is a preliminary randomized controlled trial, with a three-arm trial design including verum self-acupressure, sham self-acupressure, and usual care. Subjects will include 52 breast cancer survivors who are receiving aromatase inhibitors and have experienced a moderate level of joint pain and at least one of the two symptoms including fatigue and sleep disturbance. Subjects who are randomized to either the verum self-acupressure group (group A) or the sham self-acupressure group (group B) will receive up to 8 weeks of the intervention consisting of two components: (1) two individual/group acupressure training sessions over 2 weeks and (2) self-acupressure for 6 weeks. The method and duration of self-acupressure in the sham group will be the same to those in the verum intervention group. The control group will receive usual care. The outcome measures of this study will be related to feasibility, acceptability and preliminary effects of self-acupressure. Individual in-depth interviews will be conducted with selected participants in group A and B to understand their perceptions and perceived effectiveness of the intervention.
This is a phase 1b/2 open-label study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of sacituzumab govitecan-hziy in combination with chemoimmunotherapy (cyclophosphamide, N-803, and PD-L1 t-haNK) in subjects with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) after at least 2 prior treatments for metastatic disease.
This study assesses the health literacy and understanding of radiation therapy information during consultation in patients with prostate or breast cancer undergoing definitive radiation therapy. Health literacy is defined as "the capacity to obtain, process, and understand health information and services to enable sound health decisions." Information gained from this study, may help researchers develop appropriate modalities to enhance comprehension of radiation therapy, and therefore allow for improved patient decision making with medical treatment.
This is a multicenter, open-label, single-arm, phase II study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Mitoxantrone Hydrochloride Liposome in patients with advanced HER2 negative breast cancer.
