Filter by:Under double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over conditions, the short-term effects of use of A1 beta casein free milk (a2 milk) and milk containing A1 beta casein will be compared in a sample of pre-pubescent boys diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with concurrent features of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
The aim of this randomized controlled trial is to determine if a nutritional supplement containing broccoli sprout and seed extracts, a rich source of sulforaphane, is effective in reducing core symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study will also explore the safety and tolerability of a sulforaphane supplement in young men with ASD, as well as its effects on challenging neuropsychiatric symptoms that are commonly associated with ASD, such as hyperactivity, irritability, and repetitive movements.
The objective of the autism registry is to estimate the prevalence of autism in French Guiana in the cohort of children aged 8 years. Secondary objectives are to determine the prevalence of comorbidities, and to determine the theoretical and actual orientation of these children regarding care and education in a territory with significant structural deficits relative to mainland France. The outcomes of this registry will be to guide decision makers in their funding priorities to improve, screening, diagnosis, care and education for children on the autistic spectrum
A randomized pilot trial of a probiotic for quality of life in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), targeting gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms.
For participants enrolled prior to Version 6 of the protocol: This was a Phase II multi-center, randomized, double-blind, 24-week, 3-arm, parallel group, placebo-controlled study to investigate the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of balovaptan in children and adolescents aged 5-17 years with ASD who are high functioning (intelligence quotient [IQ] greater than or equal to [>=] 70). For participants enrolled according to Version 6 of the protocol: This was a Phase II multi-center, randomized, double-blind, 24-week, parallel group, placebo-controlled, 2-arm study with participants assigned either to a 10 milligram (mg) or equivalent dose of balovaptan, or placebo. All other study parameters remained as stated above. There are three parts to this study: PK Part (Study part 1) included up to 8 weeks of treatment, Main Treatment Part (Study part 2) included 24 week of treatment, and the Open Label Extension Part (Study part 3) included Week 24 to Week 76 of treatment. All participants that completed the 24-week treatment period were eligible to participate in an optional 52-week open-label extension (OLE) during which they received balovaptan treatment.
Twelve participants were randomized to either a Facebook group or a book club group for six weeks. Data was collected on the participants social and behavioral function at both the start and the conclusion of the intervention.
In this proposed study, the investigators will evaluate the the efficacy, safety and related mechanism of sulforaphane in treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study will recruit 120 ASD patients, then these patients will be randomized to sulforaphane group or placebo group (60 patients per arm) for 12 weeks clinic trial. Clinical efficacy and safety assessment will be done at screen/baseline, 4 week, 8 week and 12 week. The specific aims are to compare sulforaphane versus placebo on: 1) clinical core symptoms; 2) other behavioral problems and adaptive behaviors. Biological samples also will be collected, and stored to research related mechanisms.
The primary objective of this study is to undertake a longitudinal investigation of the impact of sleep and circadian rhythm disturbances on cognitive and behavioural trajectories in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) age 3-10 years old. This innovative study will use objective quantifiable measures of sleep and circadian rhythms in addition to subjective measures. The investigators aim to assess the hypotheses that, in pre-pubertal children with ASD, 1. sleep disturbances are correlated with circadian rhythm disturbances; 2. both sleep and circadian rhythm disturbances are negatively correlated with cognitive performance and positively correlated with behavioural disturbances; 3. sleep and circadian rhythm disturbances, most notably abnormal melatonin secretion, impact the cognitive and behavioural development of children with ASD, depending on age (prospective longitudinal analyses).
The overall goal of this research is to use neurophysiological measures to profile strengths and deficits for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder co-morbidity in Autism Spectrum Disorder to clarify diagnosis and to predict treatment response.
The purpose of this study is to find out how the brain of people with autism is affected by Propranolol. Propranolol is not FDA approved for the treatment of autism. Propranolol is FDA approved for the treatment of heart conditions such as blood pressure This research is being done because there are currently no drug treatment options for language impairments and social difficulties often experienced by people with autism.
