A prospective non-interventional single-centre study aimed to evaluate actual adherence of AF patients using the validated adherence Scale. Primary Study Objective(s) Primary study objective The aim of the present study is to assess adherence to therapy and factors associated with adherence in patients with CV disease complicated by non-valvular atrial fibrillation requiring OAC treatment within the outpatient registry PROFILE (prospective, observational study). 1. Data collection in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation requiring OAC treatment included in the registry 2. Evaluation of actual patient adherence to OACs Secondary Study Objective(s) 1. Kidney function in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) is tending to decline over a time which is clearly demonstrated in clinical studies. Renal impairment is a risk factor for stroke, its progression is associated with unfavorable prognosis. So preserving kidney function should be considered as a one of priorities when choosing treatment strategies which is especially important in patients with existing chronic kidney disease (CKD) or in patients who have risk of its development. This is especially relevant for the patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and with CKD who can be considered as a group of risk for rapid kidney function decline.

The aim of this study is to evaluate a new and innovative educational application based on targeted education on the adherence level for NOACs (non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants) in AF patients, compared with standard care, online targeted education and in-person targeted education. Several other parameters (knowledge level, quality of life, symptom burden, self-care capabilities, evaluation of educational efforts) will be studied. If resources allow, cardiovascular outcomes, cost-effectiveness and cost-utility will also be investigated.

Reduction of Radiation Dose and Contrast Use During Cryoballoon Pulmonary Vein Isolation

This is a multi-site, randomized, investigator-initiated pilot study to evaluate the efficacy of investigational techniques to reduce fluoroscopy time or radiation dose and the amount of radio opaque contrast used during a cryoballoon pulmonary vein isolation procedure for atrial fibrillation. One group of subjects will have the procedure performed with intracardiac echo maneuvers to assess cryoballoon occlusion of the pulmonary vein and will be compared to a group of subjects who will receive the standard medical treatment with fluoroscopy and angiography.

Non-warfarin Oral AntiCoagulant Resumption After Gastrointestinal Bleeding in Atrial Fibrillation Patients

Current clinical society guidelines and statements are non-specific and relatively open-ended regarding the optimal timing to restart non-warfarin oral anticoagulant (NOAC) after gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who require the prophylactic medication for stroke prevention. These patients are at increased risk for devastating future thromboembolic events including stroke if NOAC is not resumed promptly, whilst premature resumption of anticoagulants can result in recurrent GIB, haemorrhage, anaemia, myocardial ischaemia and infarction in those with ischaemic heart disease, and even death. However, the question as to how early a NOAC can be safely restarted after acute GIB has not been previously answered, and there remains an important knowledge gap.

Landiolol in Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation

Postoperative atrial fibrillation is a common complication after cardiac surgery and is associated with an elevation of morbidity and mortality. The recommended treatment includes heart rate control with a beta blocker. Landiolol is a new-generation beta-blocker with favourable pharmacologic properties making an interesting drug to treat postoperative atrial fibrillation. However, Landiolol micro and macrocirculatory effects in the setting of atrial fibrillation are yet to describe. The aim of this study is to describe microcirculatory effects of incremental doses of landiolol in postoperative atrial fibrillation compared to a placebo. Our hypothesis is Landiolol will improve microcirculation disorders.
