Filter by:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the OMEGA Coronary Stent System for the treatment of subjects with a de novo atherosclerotic coronary artery lesion.
The purpose of this study is to develop and validate novel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE)-MRI and positron emission tomography (PET)/MR techniques for the detection and risk stratification of patients with atherosclerosis.
OBJECTIVE It is the objective of the REMEDEE OCT study to assess vascular healing after deployment of the Abluminal Sirolimus Coated Bio-Engineered Stent (Combo Bio-Engineered Sirolimus Eluting Stent) in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) with single de novo native coronary artery lesions ranging in diameter from ≥2.5 mm to ≤3.5 mm and ≤ 20 mm in length. STUDY DESIGN The REMEDEE OCT study is a prospective, multicenter, randomized study designed to enroll 60 patients with ACS who will be randomized 1:1 to be treated with the Combo stent versus the commercially available everolimus eluting stent (Xience V or Promus). Patients will receive Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Quatitative Coronary Angiography (QCA) follow-up imaging at 60 days post procedure. Clinical follow-up is scheduled at 30, 60, 180, 360 and 540 days. Furthermore, QCA and OCT will also be performed at baseline in all participants of the study.
This is an initial evaluation of the 480 Biomedical Bioresorbable Scaffold System for the treatment of subjects with de novo native superficial femoral artery lesions.
We propose to examine a population of Native Americans who have had little or no dental care, and to determine if periodontal disease is associated with early signs of vascular dysfunction or systemic inflammation. We then propose to treat the periodontitis and re-evaluate vascular function. We will determine if gingivitis or mild/moderate periodontitis is associated with detectable vascular dysfunction. Microbial metagenomics will be correlated with vascular function.
Molsidomine used as an add-on treatment on standard care therapy should be superior to placebo used also as an add-on treatment on standard care therapy on improving the endothelial function (endothelium score measured by reactive hyperemia - peripheral arterial tonometry [RH-PAT]) after 12 months of treatment in patients with stable angina patients and undergoing elective percutaneous coronary intervention. The study will be double-blind, parallel-group, randomised, multicentre, sequential, placebo-controlled study. The device used to determine RH-PAT will be EndoPAT. Duration of the treatment = one year.
Psoriasis is a common inflammatory disease of the skin and joints with a prevalence of 1-3% in the caucasian population of Northern Europe and the US. Similarly to other inflammatory diseases there is now substantial and accumulating evidence that psoriasis has a systemic inflammatory component. It is known that patients suffering from psoriasis have increased prevalence of traditional cardiovascular risk factors, such as hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obesity, tobacco use and diabetes mellitus. This would logically explain an increased rate of cardiovascular events, but even when adjusting for theses risk factors, psoriasis carry an independent risk for developing cardiovascular disease. Recent large epidemiological studies have shown a strong correlation between psoriasis and myocardial infarction. Atopic dermatitis has been linked to ischemic stroke in one study, but besides this, the disease has not been associated with cardiovascular disease. In conclusion, convincing and increasing evidence is supporting that psoriasis induce accelerated atherosclerosis and hence cardiovascular disease and mortality. In particular, this is seen in young patients with early disease onset. Psoriasis is believed to be driven by cytokines produced by Th1 and Th17 lymphocytes. A number of these cytokines are suggested to be atherogenic. In contrast, another chronic inflammatory disease, atopic dermatitis, is predominantly driven by Th2 lymphocyte derived cytokines, some of which may inhibit atherosclerotic processes. It is therefore, of interest to compare the presence of cardiovascular disease in these two inflammatory skin diseases. Hypothesis: That the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and especially coronary artery disease is increased in psoriasis patients and that this process can be influenced by treatment of psoriasis with biological treatment.
This is a prospective, multi-center imaging study expecting to enroll approximately 1350 patients scheduled for clinically-indicated coronary angiography. Following informed consent, patient will undergo baseline coronary intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging and non-invasive ultrasound imaging of their carotid arteries. Following a 2-year follow-up period, patients will undergo repeat coronary IVUS and standard invasive coronary angiography as well as carotid ultrasound examination. Additionally, patients will be contacted by phone on an annual basis for 5 years to collect cardiovascular and cerebrovascular clinical endpoints. Evaluations of plaque burden will be made using invasive and non invasive imaging tools in order to assess correlations between vascular beds, imaging technologies and main cardiovascular events.
This is a national, prospective, multi-center, non-randomized study to evaluate the long-term efficacy and integrity of the EPICTM Nitinol Vascular Stent System in Superficial Femoral Artery (SFA) lesions. A total of 100 patients will be included in approximately 10 sites. The study is designed to demonstrate the EPIC Nitinol Vascular Stent System is non- inferior to the published patency rates found in the literature. This non-inferiority will be established by proving that the true rate for the EPICTM Nitinol Vascular Stent System is higher than 82% minus a 10% delta.
Main Study (CACZ885M2301): The purpose of the pivotal phase of this trial was to test the hypothesis that canakinumab treatment of patients with myocardial infarction (MI) at least one month prior to study entry and elevated hsCRP could prevent recurrent cardiovascular events. The purpose of the extension phase of the main study is to collect additional long-term safety data on continued exposure to canakinumab in patients who participated in the pivotal phase. Sub-study 1 (CACZ885M2301S1): The purpose of this sub-study was to evaluate the effect of quarterly subcutaneous canakinumab treatment for 24 months comparted with placebo on the carotid plaque burden measured by integrated vascular MRI in patients enrolled in the CACZ885M2301 study (CANTOS). Sub-study 2 (CACZ885M2301S2): The purpose of this CANTOS sub-study was to determine whether, in patients with type 2 diabetes participating in the CANTOS main study, canakinumab compared to placebo, on top of standard of care could increase insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity.
