Chronical Illness-related Limitations of the Ability to Cope With Rising Temperatures: an Observational Study, 2nd Wave

CLIMATE-II
Start date: May 15, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The CLIMATE-II Observational Study examines to what extent chronically ill patients experience adverse health effects because of heat and whether the patients' specific health behavior, somatosensory amplification, risk and benefit perception, self-efficacy, health literacy, degree of urbanisation of the patients' administration district and characteristics of the patients' neighborhood are associated with these effects.

Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Undiagnosed Asthma or COPD: THE UCAP 2 TRIAL

UCAP2
Start date: May 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Our research group has found that Canadians with undiagnosed asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have increased respiratory symptoms and worse health-related quality of life. The investigators recently developed and validated an on-line questionnaire to accurately identify these symptomatic, undiagnosed individuals. The investigators will advertise in the community asking individuals to complete the on-line questionnaire at home, at their leisure, to determine if they are at risk of asthma or COPD. Those at risk will be invited to participate in a randomized, controlled clinical trial to determine whether early diagnosis of previously undiagnosed asthma or COPD and subsequent treatment by the primary care practitioner will improve their quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT06392490 Not yet recruiting - Asthma Clinical Trials

The Effectiveness of Peer-education Programs for Adolescents Diagnosed With Asthma

Start date: July 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The research was planned in a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the effect of technology-based education provided by peers and adults to children diagnosed with asthma in the 12-18 age group. The study will be conducted in two phases. The initial phase will assess the efficacy of the training provided to peer mentors. The subsequent phase will examine the impact of peer-led and adult-delivered technology-based education on quality of life, asthma control, asthma knowledge, and self-efficacy in adolescents diagnosed with asthma. The required institutional permission and ethics committee approval was received. The study group of the study will consist of 45 adolescents (intervention group 1 [n=15], intervention group 2 [n=15], and control group [n=15]). Data will be collected by using the descriptive features form, the Adolescent Asthma Self-Efficiacy Questionaire, the Asthma Quality of Life Scale for Children, the Asthma Control Test, the Asthma Knowledge Test. The data will be analyzed using the SPSS 27 program.

NCT ID: NCT06389058 Active, not recruiting - Severe Asthma Clinical Trials

Using NLP and Neural Networks to Autonomously Identify Severe Asthma and Determine Study Eligibility in a Large Healthcare System

Start date: May 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The study aims to to use new technologies (ML, AI, NLP), to autonomously identify moderate to severe asthma populations within an EHR system, describe differences in treatment patterns across different populations, and determine trial eligibility. Primary Objectives Please ensure you detail primary objectives Aim 1. Determine and validate a diagnosis of severe asthma (SA) using predictive features obtained from the Scripps Health EHR. - Aim 1a: Use ML applied to structured EHR data to predict SA. Use the opinion of 2 specialty-trained physicians and ATS guidelines to determine model accuracy. - Aim 1b: Use NLP applied to unstructured text to predict SA. Determine model accuracy as above in Aim 1a. - Aim 1c: Use a combination of ML applied to structured data to predict SA. Determine model accuracy as above in Aim 1a.
