NCT ID: NCT00493389 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Aortic Aneurysm, Abdominal

Cortisol Response to Adrenocorticotrophin (ACTH) in Acute Stress

CRAAS
Start date: July 2007
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Cortisol deficiency is diagnosed by the adrenocorticotrophin (ACTH) stimulation test. This test measures cortisol levels in the blood before and after giving an injection of ACTH. Currently, the results of this test can only be reliably interpreted when it is carried out on people in non-stressful situations. Frequently the test is carried out in hospitalized patients in stressful situations, giving results that are hard to interpret. Our study is to first do this test in a non-stressful situation, followed by a repeat test in a stressful situation, to compare the results and create a set of guidelines for interpreting the test when it is carried out in stressful situations.

NCT ID: NCT00488943 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Follow-up After Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Start date: January 2005
Phase:
Study type: Observational

To collect and analyze clinical follow-up data which can be used to assess the safety, efficacy, and durability of endovascular AAA repair with Zenith and Chuter-Gianturco stent-grafts.

NCT ID: NCT00488696 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Aortic Aneurysm of the Proximal Arch

Branched Aortic Arch Study

Start date: October 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a study to assess the safety and effectiveness of endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms involving the proximal aortic arch. The investigational operation involves placing a stent-graft over the aortic aneurysm.

NCT ID: NCT00488358 Completed - Clinical trials for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Hemodynamic Changes After Aortic Aneurysm Treatment With Stent-Graft

Start date: November 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To compare the aortic pulse profile before and after stent-graft implantation to prove that endovascular AAA repair using non-compliant stent-graft changes the aortic pulse profile.

NCT ID: NCT00483665 Completed - Clinical trials for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Vasovist Endoleak Study

Start date: June 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

After endovascular treatment of an abdominal aortic aneurysm, lifelong imaging follow-up is needed to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment. One parameter in this follow-up is endoleak, which is leakage of blood into the aneurysm sac. The aim of this study is to investigate the value of magnetic resonance imaging using Vasovist as a contrast agent for the detection of endoleaks.

NCT ID: NCT00483249 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Endovascular Exclusion of Thoracoabdominal and/or Paravisceral Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Start date: May 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a study to assess the safety and effectiveness of endovascular treatment of thoracoabdominal (TAAA) and paravisceral abdominal (PVAAA) aortic aneurysms. The investigational operation involves placing a stent-graft over the aortic aneurysm.

NCT ID: NCT00478803 Completed - Aortic Aneurysm Clinical Trials

Conservative Aortic Valve Surgery for Aortic Insufficiency and Aneurysms of the Aortic Root. CAVIAAR

CAVIAAR
Start date: May 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of the CAVIAAR study is to prove that aortic valve sparing for patients with aortic root aneurysms and/or dystrophic aortic insufficiency is associated with a 45% increase of 3 years-survival rate without increased mortality or serious increased morbidity events when compared to mechanical valve replacement. The main hypothesis of this study is that a standardized procedure of valve sparing based on external aortic annuloplasty in patients with dystrophic aortic insufficiency and/or aortic root aneurysm increases survival rate without increased mortality or serious increased morbidity events when compared with patients undergoing mechanical aortic valve replacement.

NCT ID: NCT00450294 Completed - Clinical trials for Intraocular Pressure

Intraocular Pressure During Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Repair

Start date: March 2007
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The objective of this study will be to answer a clinical question that has not already been investigated; that is, what are the effects of aortic infra-renal clamping and unclamping on intraocular pressure during Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) repair? Depending on the results, this study may raise or alleviate concern that vascular surgery for abdominal aortic aneurysm could contribute to early perioperative exacerbation of pre-existing eye disease and increase a patient's vulnerability to developing a type of blindness known as ischemic optic neuropathy. The purpose of this observational study is to evaluate whether intraocular pressure measurements with a handheld tonometer will detect changes in intraocular pressure related to intraoperative events during aortic cross clamping and unclamping that may provide information on causes of perioperative blindness.

NCT ID: NCT00449306 Active, not recruiting - Atherosclerosis Clinical Trials

Physical,Histological, and Genetic Analyses of Lipid-rich Atherosclerotic Plaques

Start date: March 2001
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Lipid-rich atherosclerotic plaques, or "vulnerable plaques" are prone to rupture, causing local intravascular thrombosis, with subsequent grave clinical consequences. Atherosclerotic plaques normally removed during surgery, and peripheral blood samples will be studied to achieve the following objectives: "1" Define histological features of the vulnerable plaque, analyze its physical characteristics, and investigate selected gene expression. "2" Study biomarkers of inflammation in conjunction with the presence of vulnerable plaques. "3" Explore the potential role of infection in atherogenesis.

NCT ID: NCT00444821 Terminated - Clinical trials for ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSMS

The (PIVOTAL) Study

Start date: March 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare endovascular repair using any FDA approved Medtronic AAA Stent Graft System versus surveillance in subjects with smaller abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA)(4-5CM), with respect to AAA rupture and AAA related deaths.
