NCT ID: NCT05756114 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Alcohol Use Disorder

Self Management and Recovery Training (SMART) Recovery Study

SMART
Start date: April 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study identifies whether and how online support groups may work to confer therapeutic benefits onto its participants.

NCT ID: NCT05748639 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Alcohol Use Disorder

RCT of an Integrated Digital Intervention for Alcohol Use Disorder

Alcohol RCT
Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study is a two-arm randomized clinical trial comparing the Quit Genius intervention for alcohol use disorder (QG-A) to usual care (TAU), comprising medical management of alcohol use disorders with pharmacotherapy. Participants (N=300) will be randomly assigned to either QG-A or TAU, and will be assessed at baseline, monthly throughout the 6-month intervention phase and at 3 and 6 months post-treatment, to investigate the impact of QG-A, relative to TAU on alcohol use, psychological symptoms, and health service utilization. The primary aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of QG-A, relative to TAU in reducing alcohol use and associated mental health and functional outcomes. A secondary aim is to examine the cost-effectiveness of QG-A, including cost savings and impact on productivity.

NCT ID: NCT05747703 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Alcohol Use Disorder

Telehealth Treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder

Start date: January 31, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Participants with alcohol use disorder will be randomly assigned to either the Ria Treatment Platform or a waitlist control. The Ria Treatment Platform is a telehealth approach that incorporates medical assessment, medications for alcohol use disorder, individual and group coaching, educational video modules, and a Bluetooth-enabled breathalyzer. Patients are followed for three months during which data are collected, including measures of alcohol consumption and its consequences.

NCT ID: NCT05743699 Not yet recruiting - Substance Use Clinical Trials

Adaptation and Evaluation of Bright Horizons

Start date: July 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will test if a program called 'Bright Horizons' is effective at reducing binge substance use among adolescents. Bright Horizons is a culturally adapted intervention developed and tested through a partnership between The White Mountain Apache Tribe and Johns Hopkins University. Bright Horizons is a brief intervention that teaches emotion regulation, coping skills, and problem solving. The intervention also uses goal setting to reduce alcohol and other substance use and to connect to individuals with treatment.

NCT ID: NCT05738174 Recruiting - Alcohol Dependence Clinical Trials

High-dose Accelerated Theta Burst Stimulation for the Treatment of Alcohol Addiction

TBA
Start date: March 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a two-arm randomized placebo-controlled trial in which 72 patients with alcohol addiction are treated with high-dose accelerated intermittent theta burst stimulation (TBS).

NCT ID: NCT05732207 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Alcohol Use Disorder

Cerebellar Involvement in Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD)

Start date: October 12, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this observational and interventional study is to better understand the involvement of the cerebellum in the brain reward system in persons with alcohol use disorder (AUD). The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. What is the nature of cerebellar input to the ventral tegmental area (VTA) in the brain reward system, and how is it perturbed in AUD? 2. What is the relationship between measures of cerebellar integrity and magnitude of reward activation to alcohol-related cues in cerebellar, VTA and other brain reward structures? 3. What is the therapeutic potential of cerebellar transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for modulating alcohol cue reactivity, associated alcohol craving, and cerebellar - VTA functional connectivity in the brain reward system? Persons with AUD will be compared with healthy control participants.

NCT ID: NCT05730504 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Substance Use Disorders

Evaluating the Effectiveness of Mobile Self-guided Psychological Interventions to Reduce Relapse in Substance Use Disorder

Start date: March 5, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of mobile interventions in reducing craving and lapses in patients diagnosed with Substance Use Disorder. In a two-armed, randomized controlled trial the efficacy of self-guided psychological intervention delivered via a mobile app (NaƂogometr 2.0) will be assessed. During the course of three months, participants will have access to intervention modules, based mainly on mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). With the use of ecological momentary assessment (EMA), longitudinal data on several variables related to craving and lapse risk will be collected. Additionally, a questionnaire battery assessment - administered monthly - will measure severity of substance dependence, levels of anxiety, depression, and life satisfaction.

NCT ID: NCT05729243 Recruiting - Smoking Cessation Clinical Trials

Cytisine for Smoking Cessation

Start date: February 8, 2023
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of cytisine as a smoking cessation treatment in individuals with concurrent alcohol use disorder.

NCT ID: NCT05722483 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Alcohol Use Disorder

Intensive Virtual Treatment With Remote Abstinence Monitoring for Alcohol Use Disorder

Start date: January 30, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This single-arm pilot study will recruit participants with moderate to severe alcohol use disorder for a 4-week virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP). The program aims to replicate the structure and abstinence monitoring of a residential treatment program although the program is delivered entirely virtually.

NCT ID: NCT05720247 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD)

Brief Intervention and Fibroscan for Harmful Drinkers Presenting to the Emergency Department

IBAFiRST
Start date: February 24, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators plan to assess the feasibility of a randomised controlled trial of an innovative screening (Identification), Brief Intervention, Fibroscan and Self-Referral for Specialist Treatment (IBAFiRST) programme for high risk drinkers in the Emergency Department (ED). IBAFiRST extends existing screening and advice given to people with potential alcohol use disorders (AUD) in ED. Currently patients who drink heavily have brief advice and are asked to refer themselves to community specialist alcohol treatment services (ATS) after leaving ED. A Fibroscan is a safe, quick and reliable ultrasound test to see if there are signs of "stiffening" of the liver which can indicate early liver damage. It is recommended as a non-invasive test by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) but is not known to be used within EDs in the UK. The investigators wish to test whether giving the patients the results of this scan will make them more likely to self-refer to ATS. Currently take up rates of ATS are low in this population and too few people are seeking treatment to help them reduce their alcohol intake. Because so little is known about self-referral in ED the investigators are completing a feasibility study before seeking funding for a large scale randomised trial.
