Effect of a Motivational Intervention on Exercise Adherence After Cardiac Rehabilitation

The Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines recommend that adults should exercise for at least 150 minutes per week. Incorporating 150 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA) a week has been associated with the prevention of at least 25 chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease. However, most people do not successfully maintain this active behavior. The primary objective of this investigation is to understand what predicts successful exercise adherence and why people dropout from the gym. The long-term impact of this study has implications for future policy level interventions aimed at exercise adherence.

COVID-19 pandemic has made a tremendous impact on Indonesian economic and health care system especially with the double burden of diseases facing by Indonesia as a developing country. The prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as obesity, type diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases is increasing. These diseases along with older age have been known as an established risk factors for higher mortality and severe clinical disease entity in COVID-19 infection. Although, there is still some part of patients with these co-morbidities that only present with mild symptoms when infected with SARS-CoV-2, even for some without any symptoms. Thus, it would be very interesting to evaluate how are these role of aging and cardiometabolic parameters in the clinical disease course of COVID-19 infection, and how are the relationship with the immune system.

Impact of Fish Oil Dose on Tissue Content and Function

In this 5-month study, we will track the incorporation and washout of n-3 PUFA into different tissues following two different dosing strategies in healthy young and older volunteers. All groups will be followed for washout. Data gathered from this study will be used to establish novel dosing strategies and provide insights into the incorporation of n-3 PUFAs in different tissues and their washout in young and older participants.
