The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of an auditory training program used at home with the subject's own hearing aids.
Goal: The development of a Treadmill Rehabilitation Platform (TRP) for task-orientated rehabilitation that provides an adapted, blended approach among older adults with balance, mobility, and cognitive impairments. Study Objective: Examine the feasibility and benefits of a novel dual-task intervention to address mobility and cognitive decline with age using engaging interactive video games during treadmill walking and recumbent cycling.This will include evaluation of the effects of two interventions, one using treadmill walking and the second a recumbent cycle ergometer on 1. Core balance 2. Cardiac fitness, exercise endurance 3. Gaze control 4. Gait performance measure (walking stability and spatial-temporal gait parameters) 5. Specific executive cognitive function (processing speed, cognitive inhibition, working memory) 6. Dual task function during treadmill walking Hypothesis: 1. Dual-task exercise program will improve core balance and walking function to a greater extent in the Treadmill walking group compared to recumbent cycle group. 2. Executive function will improve equally in both the treadmill walking and recumbent cycle group. 3. Dual task exercise programs will have significant effect on gaze stability and cardiac fitness equally for both the treadmill and recumbent cycling groups.
This is a substudy of the Generation-100 study (NCT01666340). The aim of this study is to find critical values for (1) maximal oxygen uptake and (2) sedentary behavior, below which cardiovascular risk parameter clustering is apparent in an elderly Norwegian population.

The proposed preliminary study from this interdisciplinary team will provide important information about the feasibility and safety of bedside low intensity pedaling exercise during hospitalization. The findings from this study are essential to develop high-value, effective treatments that can be used by any hospital setting throughout the country. The program that investigators are proposing may provide important changes in how disability can be prevented in elderly patients who are hospitalized because of an acute illness.
The purpose of this study is twofold: 1. Establish baseline measures of gait performance in healthy young and older adults, and older adults with a history of falls. 2. Investigate the effects of gait and balance training with and without cranial nerve noninvasive neuromodulation (CN-NINM) on postural balance and gait performance in older adults. For the second purpose, the study will incorporate a placebo-controlled design to evaluate the effects of CN-NINM augmented exercise compared to physical exercises alone. Both groups will perform gait and postural balance training (outlined in more detail below) but will differ in the stimulation level of the PoNS device. The investigators will use the results of this study as a first step toward evaluating the benefits of CN-NINM in a falls prevention program.
The purpose of this study is to compare, when combined with chronic exercise, the effects of perindopril, losartan, and hydrochlorothiazide.
This study is being conducted to assess the effect of dietary blueberry supplementation on cognition and mobility in older adults. It is hypothesized that plant compounds, present in blueberries, may improve cognition and mobility by protecting against oxidative stress and inflammation.
