A Study to Investigate the Efficacy of LT-02 in Patients With Mesalazine Refractory Ulcerative Colitis

The participation in this clinical study will last approximately 21 weeks with a 1 week screening period and a 12 weeks treatment duration. If the study doctor finds, that the patients disease has significantly improved he/she will enter a treatment free follow-up period of 8 weeks. In total the study consists of 5 to 6 clinical visits (V1 - V6) and 1 telephone follow-up call.

Percutaneous Lesioning Splanchnic Nerves in Patients With Chronic Pancreatitis

Chronic pancreatitis is a progressive inflammatory disease resulting in slow destruction of the pancreas. This chronic inflammation can lead to chronic abdominal pain which can last for many years. Unfortunately, medical management often is of only limited benefit in treating the pain of chronic pancreatitis. Management of patients with intractable pain is difficult, often resulting in narcotic addiction. Early results in a small group of patients suggest that percutaneous radiofrequent lesioning of splanchnic nerves has good potential for pain control in a subset of patients with chronic pancreatitis. Given the simplicity of the procedure, it clearly warrants reappraisal to identify its current role in pancreatic pain management.

Secondary objectives were: - to assess the safety and tolerability of REGN475/SAR164877 in patients with chronic pancreatitis pain; - to characterize the pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and immunogenicity profiles of REGN475/SAR164877 in this population; - to measure the change in the total daily dose of rescue medications required.

Anxiety and Recurrent Abdominal Pain in Children

This study aims to determine whether citalopram is a useful, well-tolerated, and safe treatment for children and adolescents ages 7 to 18 years with functional abdominal pain. The study hypothesis is that citalopram will be better than placebo in producing clinical improvement and reductions in abdominal pain. It is also hypothesized that citalopram and placebo will not differ in terms of safety and tolerability.

Probiotics play an important role in preventing overgrowth of potentially pathogenic bacteria and maintaining the integrity of the gut mucosal barrier. The beneficial effects of probiotics have been previously studied in adult patients with IBS. Even though most of the studies demonstrate efficacy, other studies do not support these observations. Few studies addresses the efficacy of probiotics in children with IBS. The goal of the present study was to determine whether oral administration of the probiotic Lactobacillus GG under randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled conditions would improve symptoms of children with abdominal pain.
