Filter by:The Self-Testing options in the Era of Primary HPV screening for cervical cancer (STEP) trial will evaluate effectiveness of home-based HPV kits for improving cervical cancer screening uptake and its cost-effectiveness. The investigators will compare cervical cancer screening uptake within six months among women randomized to different outreach approaches based on prior screening behavior: A) Adherent and coming due: direct mail HPV kit vs. opt-in HPV kit vs. education; B) Overdue: direct mail HPV kit vs. education; C) Unknown: opt-in HPV kit vs. education.
Evaluating the clinical behavior of composite restorations in NCCLs when the surface is pre-conditioned using bioactive glass air-abrasion has not been reported in the dental literature. This double-blinded randomised clinical trial evaluated the effect of surface pre-conditioning with bioactive air-abrasion on the performance of composite restorations in NCCLs placed using etch&rinse and self-etch adhesive systems.
The study will investigate if implementation of "see and treat" in the outpatient clinic can optimize the diagnosis, clinical follow-up and treatment of older women with positive cervical screening test.
To evaluated the clinical performance of composite resin restorations, considering also the evaluation of release of resin components into saliva and the presence cytokines in gingival fluid. Restorative system FL-Bond II (self-etching adhesive system)/ beautifil II (composite restorative) were use. For in vitro assays, adhesive and resin specimens are being preparing for assessing the monomers degree of conversion (by FTIR), sorption and solubility and release of resinous components in ethanol and Ringer solutions (through a gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy - GC-MS). In the longitudinal clinical study clinical performance of restorations and periodontal response were evaluate.
The purpose of this prospective clinical trial will be to evaluate the efficacy of an FDA approved and marketed universal dental adhesive formulation in adult noncarious cervical lesions using self-etch and selective etch approaches. The hypothesis is that using a selective enamel etch with this universal adhesive will enhance the restoration margin performance.
This study aims to evaluate the effect of chlorhexidine digluconate (CRX) application in etched dentin on the retention of noncarious cervical lesions restorations. A randomized controlled split-mouth and blind trial will be carried out. Patients with at least two non-carious cervical lesions (NCL) will be selected. NCL will be randomly assigned according the type of teeth (incisors, canine or pre-molars) into two groups: control or experimental group (application of 2% CRX for 60 seconds after the acid etching procedure). Class V restorations will be performed out with an etch-and-rinse adhesive system (Adper Single Bond 2-3M ESPE) and a composite resin (Filtek Z350-3M ESPE) according the manufacture instructions, by previously trained operators. The restorations will be evaluated by a calibrate examiner at 1 week (baseline), and 6-month, 12-month and 24-month, using the World Dental Federation (FDI) criteria. The outcome is retention of the restoration.
The overall objective of this three-armed randomized clinical trial (RCT) is to determine the comparative efficacy of three treatments for hypersensitive noncarious cervical lesions (NCLs): chemoactive dentifrice use, dentin bonding agent (DBA) with sealing, and flowable resin-based composite restoration. The primary outcomes of this study are the reduction/elimination of hypersensitivity and the effect of treatment as measured by patient-reported outcomes. Secondary outcomes, as determined by laboratory evaluation of intraoral replicas of pre- and posttreatment NCL surfaces, are tubule occlusion, retention of resin coating, retention of restoration, and change in lesion size. Outcomes will be ascertained via the following specific aims: Specific Aim 1: To compare the reduction of hypersensitivity of study teeth by both measurement and by patient-reported outcomes among three treatment groups. Specific Aim 2: To recruit subjects with teeth with hypersensitive NCLs, measure baseline sensitivity and subject quality of life, administer one of three different treatments to each of three randomized groups of subjects, and determine immediate posttreatment hypersensitivity. Specific Aim 3: To compare the degree of tubule occlusion before and after the three treatments and to associate these findings with posttreatment hypersensitivity, patient-reported outcomes, and restoration retention. Treatment of NCLs remains controversial. Few studies have compared treatment methods or their financial implications. This RCT will determine the reduction of NCL hypersensitivity and patient-reported outcomes over a 6-month period for each of three different treatments. This will be the first practice-based research network RCT to combine objective clinical assessment of NCL treatment patient-reported outcomes with laboratory examination of dentin tubule occlusion and lesion size.
This study provided data on the performance of the Cobas® 4800 HPV Test for identifying histologically confirmed high-grade cervical disease. The baseline, cross-sectional phase was conducted in approximately 45,000 women undergoing routine cervical cancer screening, of whom approximately 7,400 were selected to undergo colposcopy and biopsy/endocervical curettage (ECC) at baseline. These subjects included women with cytology that is 'not normal' and a selection of those with 'normal' cytology who entered a follow-up phase and underwent cytological evaluation annually for 3 years. In this follow-up phase, colposcopy and biopsy/ECC were performed only in women with cervical cytology considered 'not normal' at any of the annual follow-up visits.
This is an open-label, two-arm, multicenter feasibility study to evaluate the safety and tolerability of pazopanib in combination with carboplatin and paclitaxel in female subjects with newly diagnosed advanced gynaecological tumors. Subjects will have received no prior therapy for their disease. A minimum of 12 and a maximum of 46 subjects will be enrolled. Dose schemas for each study arm are described in the protocol. For each arm, six subjects will be evaluated in treatment cohorts, which will be expanded to 20 subjects if initial toxicity is acceptable. Overall safety and tolerability of the regimen will be based on dose limiting toxicities, adverse events, and percentage of subjects that complete 6 courses of study treatment. Antitumor activity will be assessed using RECIST criteria and cancer antigen 125 (CA-125) responses.
