Investigation of Brain Mechanisms Involved in Urgency Urinary Incontinence

This is a randomized double-blind crossover trial of trospium and placebo in women with urgency urinary incontinence, with evaluation (history, physical, incontinence evaluation and brain MRI) at baseline, and after each course of therapy. The investigators will evaluate functional brain changes in relation to bladder improvement in order to improve our knowledge of the brain's role in the continence mechanism.

Prevalence of Urinary Incontinence and Evaluation of Related Factors in Patients With COPD

Urinary incontinence (UI) is defined as involuntary urinary incontinence. In women with COPD, chronic coughing can often lead to UI. In this patient group, incontinence may be related to functional impairment, concomitant diseases and medications used. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of urinary incontinence in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the factors that may be associated with urinary incontinence. The study included individuals who applied to the Pulmonary Diseases Policlinic of SANKO University Sani Konukoğlu Practice and Research Hospital and followed up with the diagnosis of COPD. The age, sex, height, weight, education level, smoking, exercise habits, fluid intake, medications and accompanying diseases such as heart disease, hypertension and diabetes will be recorded. Any prolapse or surgery will be questioned and noted. The disease severity will be determined by the forced expiratory volume (FEV1) value of the first second obtained from pulmonary function tests. Dyspnea score will also be determined by the Modified British Research Council (MBRC). Symptoms will be evaluated with the COPD Assessment Test (CAT). For urinary incontinence, the ICIQ-SF (International Urinary Incontinence Consultation) Questionnaire and Urinary Distress Inventory will be applied. In addition, the Leicester Cough Questionnaire will be used to assess your coughing functions, and the Activity-Self Assessment will be performed to determine the individual activity adequacy and the value of activities for individuals. All evaluations will be done only once with the help of the physiotherapist and asking the questions and recording the answers of the individual.

Platelet-rich Fibrin Versus HIFU in Management of Stress Urinary Incontinence

Aim of the study is to compare effect of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) and platelet-rich fibrin in management of stress urinary incontinence. It is a randomized prospective study. After assigning to one of the two groups, patients will undergo relevant treatment. First group will undergo 3 cycles of intravaginal HIFU treatment in 6-weeks interval. Second group will undergo 3 injections of platelet-rich fibrin under urethra. Before the treatment and after 2, 6 and 12 months after treatment is finished patients will be asked to fill questionaries concerning quality of life ICIQ-UI SF, ICIQ-LUTS, PISQ12, FSFI. Before each treatment cycle patients will be examined and asked to fill daily micturition plan.

It can significantly affect quality of life as patients avoid activities or behaviors that cause leakage. This clinical trial will compare the efficacy of the Emsella chair to sham and determine if electromagnetic technology is effective in the treatment of SUI.

Urinary incontinence is an increasing medical and socio-economical problem. 44% of the elderly (>65 years) women and 28% of the elderly men suffer from unwilling urine loss. Moreover, this percentages increase with age. Incontinence is a problem with multiple physical, psychological, and financial effects. In addition incontinence has a important impact on the family and healthcare professionals surrounding the elderly. The problem of urinary incontinence is complex and multifactorial. Moreover, diagnostic guidelines are inconsistent leading to a high amount of technical interventions to diagnose and to specify the type of incontinence. Aim of this study is to create a short form of necessary technical investigations to diagnose and evaluate urinary incontinence.
