View clinical trials related to Tension-Type Headache.
Filter by:A Single-Arm Open-Label Trial was performed at the Danish Headache Center (DHC), Department of Neurology, Rigshospitalet - Glostrup as part of the clinic. Purpose: To examine the effects of supervised group strength training and posture correction on headache frequency and muscle function around the neck and shoulders in patients with migraine and tension-type headaches. Hypothesis: Strength training of the neck and shoulders results in improved muscle function, which leads to a reduction in headache.
Headache disorder characterized by recurrent headache are among the most common disoredrs of the nervous system. Tension type headache is widely recognized kind of headache that affects 80% of the individuals. Its underlying cause has not been clearly distinguished. It is managed both pharmacology and non-pharmacology which includes dry needling, acupuncture, manual techniques and massage. Several studies conducted which showed that both the soft tissue muscle inhibition and joint mobilization techniques are effective in decreasing pain. But there is lack of evidence which shows combined effects of soft tissue muscle inhibition and sustained natural apophyseal glides(SNAGS) in chronic tension type headache. so this study will compare the effects of soft tissue muscle release and SNAGS on pain intensity and cervical range of motion.
The aim of this course is to investigate the effect of temporomandibular joint relaxation and myofacial relaxation techniques on quality of life , Joint range of motion, headache, depression in individuals with tension type headache.
Data role of salivary inflammatory markers in migraine and Tension Type headache (TTH) are lacking. Τhe investigators studied whether headache attacks are associated with changes in C reactive protein (CRP), Interleukin -1β and Interleukin -6 in saliva in patients with Tension Type Headache and Migraine and age matched healthy controls . Τhe investigators, also investigated whether these markers could be influenced by comorbidities such as depression and anxiety.
Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of Kinesio taping on upper trapezius muscle on the reduction of pain and emotional state in the treatment of patients with tension type headache by acting on myofacial mechanoreceptors. Methods: This study was conducted in 71 patients aged 30-45 years with tension type headache diagnosed. Patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. While KT and stretching exercises were performed in the study group, only the stretching exercise was performed for the control group. KT was applied 8 times in total for 4 weeks with 2 sessions per week. Stretching exercise was done in the morning, afternoon and evening 3 times every day for 4 weeks and 5 days of the week. After recording the demographic data of all the patients participating in the study, assessed the sensitivity of the right and left upper parts of the trapezius with algometer, pain intensity with visual analog scale (VAS), Beck depression and anxiety scale for emotional status before and after treatment. p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Primary headache disorders are now accepted as physiological diseases, and advanced imaging-techniques have demonstrated a migraine generator in the brain stem and increased stimulus sensitivity in these patients. The underlying neuronal dysfunctions remain to to clarified and the existing neurophysiological methods have not yet been useful. More sensitive and reliable methods are therefore highly needed. The aims of the study are therefore to develop a sensitive and reliable method to demonstrate a cortical reorganisation and expansion of pain sensitive cortical areas in patients with migraine or tension-type headache.
