Filter by:The goal of this clinical trial is to test the use of a laxative before surgery in women having surgery to fix pelvic prolapse that do not have constipation. The main question it aims to answer is: Does use of a laxative before surgery lessen the discomfort of bowel movements after surgery? Participants will be asked to complete questionnaires before and after surgery. Researchers will compare using the laxative before and after surgery versus only after surgery to see if there is less discomfort with bowel movements after surgery.
To evaluate of PACMAN triage system is able to discern patient who may be safely screened by phone
Anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery (AAOCA) is a group of rare congenital heart defects with various clinical presentations. The lifetime-risk of an individual living with AAOCA is unknown, and data from multicentre registries are urgently needed to adapt current recommendations and guide optimal patient management. The European Registry for AAOCA (EURO-AAOCA) aims to assess differences with regard to AAOCA management between centres.
This is a prospectively randomized controlled trial to compare RAMIE and MIE in the treatment for locally advanced ESCC after neoadjuvant therapy. According to previous studies, long-term survival after RAMIE seemed to be at least comparable to MIE or open esophagectomy. Therefore, the RAMIE-2 study was designed as a non-inferiority trial, which was based on the hypothesis that the 5-year overall survival of patients who received RAMIE is uncompromised to MIE. To achieve the primary endpoint, 260 cases will be recruited in our hospital. Based on the volume of esophagectomy (1000 cases/year) and the proportion of patients with neoadjuvant therapy (50%) in our institution, approximately 10 patients will be enrolled for each group per month for this trial. The study will be performed in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. Written informed consent will be obtained from each participant. The flow chart of this trial is also presented.
The goal of this clinical trial is to assess efficacy of an intensive pre-surgical intervention to quit smoking in smoking patients who will be operated on implant orthopedic surgery or general and urological surgery. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: - Evaluate the efficacy of intensive pre surgical intervention to quit smoking compared to a brief intervention - Evaluate the implementation of this protocol. Participants will be randomized to 2 intervention groups (patients programmed for protesic implant orthopedic surgery in the first group, and general and urological surgery) and 2 control groups (stratified in the same manner as the intervention groups), and will be monitored through telematic check ups via phone calls.
The goal of this clinical trial is to compare different de-epithelialization methods in patients undergoing soft tissue augmentation surgery. The main questions it aims to answer are: • Which technique is superior for de-epithelialization in terms of remaining epithelium, wound healing of the donor site, and clinical outcomes?
The objective of the study is the analysis of lymphadenectomy in the course of right hemicolectomy, in relation to the radicality of the surgical resection that is performed. In particular, the investigators wants to inquire how according to precise standards regarding surgical radicalness and consequently the anatomical piece that is obtained it is possible to correlate a certain number of lymph nodes and their possible positivity. The lead center is the General and Thoracic Surgery Department of the University of Ferrara. Prof. Anania is the responsible for the enrollment of patients and the coordination with the collaborating centers in the six month-study
In-bag manual morcellation is a safe alternative procedure after FDA's discouragement of electronic power morcellator. The traditional wedging (V-type incision) or semicircular coring (C-type incision or ExCITE) method are the most common morcellation techniques. For beginners, it is somehow not that easy to get familiar with these methods. No teaching or learning experiences were reported. Therefore, we developed a dome-type (modified C-incision) technique to manually morcellate uteri leiomyoma or uterus at the time of laparoscopic surgery and report perioperative outcomes and the learning experiences of our residents for this technique from our two years of experience.
This study is one of Eastern Cooperative Thoracic Oncology Projects (ECTOP-1016). The goal of this clinical trial is to confirm the concordance rate between intra-operative frozen section pathological diagnosis and post-operative paraffin embedded pathological diagnosis, and use this result to guide surgical treatment for early stage (cT1N0M0) lung adenocarcinomas.
