Stria Gravidarum and Olive Oil for Pregnancy Women

The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical efficacy of olive oil on the severity and progression of striae gravidarum. This randomized controlled clinical trial included 156 primipara women who were early third trimester. They were randomly allocated into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. Women in the experimental group applied olive oil to their abdomen twice a day in the morning and evening. The control group had no intervention.

Striae alba is a clinical variant of striae distensae characterized by focal dermal collagen loss and thinning of elastic fibers. Carbon dioxide (CO2) laser is an ablative laser modality that ablates defective collagen and stimulates new collagen formation. Neodymium-Doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Nd-YAG) laser is a non ablative modality that results in stimulation of collagen formation through dermal heating. High frequency skin ultrasound is a rapid and non-invasive tool for measurement f skin thickness and can be used for this purpose.

Effect of Radiofrecuency on Stretch Marks

This study aims to explore the effects of fractional Radiofrecuency (RF), as well as demonstrate the performance of the new semi-ablative radiofrequency model in the treatment of stretch marks. This research is a randomized, controlled clinical trial where 32 female patients complaining of glutes and / or abdomen striations. The participants were divided into two equal groups, G1 and G2. G1 will be treated at 30-day intervals, and subdivided into 2 subgroups: G1A, 8 patients with striations in the abdomen; and G1B, 8 patients with gluteal striations. The G1A and G1B groups will be divided into 2 subgroups of 4 people each, where one group will be treated with Fractional RF associated to drug delivery, and the other group, with only Fractional RF, without the application of drug delivery. The same rule of subdivisions will occur in G2, G2A and G2B, however, the interval between applications will be every 15 days. The treatment area will be divided into a rectangle 10cm high by 10cm wide. For evaluation, the contralateral side will be used as a control, using Photogrammetry and histological analysis as a resource, which will be collected through the punch skin fragment of the infraumbilical and gluteal region, performed by a specialized physician.

Striae distensae is caused by the fracture and damage of the elastic fibers and collagen fibers, which is still a difficulty to overcome. Based on the studies demonstrated that platelet-rich plasma(PRP) has positive effect on superficial scar, and nanofat and microfat are effective in treating atrophic scar. So in this clinical trial, the investigators are going to treat striae distensae by using two combination therapies. One is nanofat grafting and PRP injection synergy, and the other one is treated by microfat grafting with PRP injection.

Prevention and Treatment of Stretch Marks With Stratamark™

Stretch marks (striae distensae) are a form of scarring that is a natural result of pregnancy, obesity and in some instances occur due to puberty or steroid use. For some people, the stretch marks do not cause a problem, but in many circumstances they can cause physical symptoms such as itchiness, tenderness and pain. For many people stretch marks are also embarrassing and can have detrimental effects on a patient's mood and self-esteem. Stretch marks that result from pregnancy most commonly occur on the abdomen, breasts and thighs. Topical silicone gel was developed nearly thirty years ago to be used in the treatment of widespread hypertrophic scars (abnormal scars, which may be red or raised/depressed itchy or painful). Since this time it has been used successfully on most scar types. . Since stretch marks are a form of scarring it is thought that topical silicone gel may be helpful for this scar type also. Stratamark™ has been developed using different forms of silicone polymers, in a gel format, that dries to form a very thin and flexible silicone gel sheet making it a convenient therapy for the treatment and prevention of stretch marks. The aim of this clinical research study is to prove or disprove the efficacy, safety and tolerability of Stratamark™ in the prevention and treatment of stretch marks. In addition, the knowledge gained from this study may be of benefit to many future patients

Nowadays, multiple treatment modalities have been applied clinically to treat striae gravidarum, such as laser therapy, microdermabrasion, platelet-rich plasma injection(PRP), etc. To some extent, these treatments can improve striae gravidarum. In this clinical trial, the investigators are going to treat striae gravidarum by using two different kinds of combination therapies. One is fractional laser and PRP injection synergy, and the other one is treated by nanofat grafting with PRP injection.
