Filter by:Microfluidics technologies are proving their capability to select suitable sperm for ICSI, especially those that take advantage of the rheotaxic properties of sperm migration. In contrast to other sperm preparation methods such as Wash-Swim-Up and Density- Gradients-Centrifugation (DGC), microfluidics disregards washing and centrifugation steps along the procedure. However, microfluidics devices are costly and likely to fail to select motile sperm in dispermic samples. The investigators have recently described a novel approach for sperm selection by In-Situ handmade rheotaxis microfluidics of fluidic walls in the same ICSI plate. This methodology integrates a swim-over based on horizontal migration with a positive rheotaxis zone. The present study aims to deliver an unbiased comparison between two sperm selection techniques: DGC and In-Situ handmade rheotaxis microfluidics of fluidic walls (isM).
The goal of this observational study is to determine whether the frequency of ejaculation in men had an effect on semen parameters.. The main questions it aims to answer are: - question 1:Whether the frequency of ejaculation has an effect on semen parameters - question 2:Whether the penultimate abstinence period has an effect on semen parameters The participants were men who underwent semen examination in the andrology clinic of the Reproductive Center of the First Hospital of Jilin University. A brief medical history was collected from each volunteer, including demographic information, fertility history and as well as information regarding their general health. The focus of the investigation is the time of abstinence for this examination, the penultimate abstinence period, and the number of ejaculation since the last 1 month.
The proposed project we intend to assess the implication of the telomeric pathway in male infertility. To get this, several analyzes will be carried out: 1. Determination of the TL by means of two methods: Q-FISH and PCR. 2. Determination of sperm DNA fragmentation by tunnel technique. 3. Assess sperm maturation. Finally, the correlations between age, normality or not of the seminogram, LT, Short telomers (ST) accumulation, DNA fragmentation levels, sperm maturation and fertility, blastocyst development, and pregnancy rates will be established in search of cut-off points that can give a forecast of man´s fertility who consults on this subject.
