Filter by:The study uses a repeated measures, single group pretest-posttest design methodology to examine the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness of the FASTLANE II intervention aimed at decreasing risky sex behaviors among active methamphetamine using women. The study's methodology consists of two phases: 1) The feasibility and evaluation of recruitment capability and intervention effectiveness, and 2) qualitative acceptability interviews.
This is a small pilot study to provide effect size estimates for a brief intervention designed to reduce hazardous drinking and sexual risk behavior among men who have sex with men. The intervention consists of an "in-person" brief motivational intervention followed by a series of text messages related to alcohol and sexual risk reduction. The primary outcome is heavy drinking episodes and frequency of condomless anal intercourse at 3 months.
This study will evaluate the effectiveness of a program in promoting the safe usage of dating applications amongst young adults in Hong Kong. One group will receive the program regarding dating applications and the other group will receive a placebo program regarding health and exercise.
Prior research has shown that many individuals with substance use disorders engage in HIV/sexual risk behaviors, and could strongly benefit from HIV prevention interventions that were delivered as part of their substance abuse treatment. However, discussions about sexual risk are not occurring at an appropriate frequency in treatment settings. This project will test the effects of counselor training and coaching, combined with a brief assessment and feedback tool, on counselor-patient communication about sex and on patient sexual risk behavior.
The proposed study developed and tested two adjunct components for use in Couples HIV Testing and Counseling (CHTC) with gay-male couples: a communication skills training video and a substance use agreement module. Phase I of the study involved the creation of intervention materials and Phase II was comprised of a small randomized controlled trial comparing the additive effects of the novel components to CHTC as usual.
