Observational Study (This Means That no Drug is Tested) in Patients Suffering of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. - PROFILE

Symptoms of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Classification of Adult Subjects Suffering From Typical GERD Symptoms and Description of the Most Frequent Symptom Profiles and Characteristics - European Observational Study

The purpose of this observational study (this means that no drug is being tested in this study) is to obtain updated and detailed information about the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) specificities in European patients. The information about patients suffering from typical GERD symptoms will be collected in order to establish a classification of adult patients profile based on the characteristics of GERD symptoms. This study will only involve data collection about the disease. The treatment will not be affected by the study.

Impact of Weight Loss on Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease in Overweight and Obese Subjects: a Prospective Study

Impact of Weight Loss on Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease in Overweight and Obese Subjects: a Prospective Study

By affecting the gastroesophageal pressure gradient, obesity predisposes to reflux of gastric contents. The investigators hypothesized that the loss of weight will decrease this gradient and as a result decrease the severity and frequency of GERD symptoms. GERD negatively affects health related quality of life. Since loss of weight may decrease gastroesophageal reflux, the investigators hypothesized that it obesity contributes to poor quality of life in GERD subjects and losing weight should also favorably impact and improve quality of life in GERD patients.

Quality of Life in Barrett's Esophagus and Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease

Quality of Life in Barrett's Esophagus and GERD:GERD Symptoms, Perception of Cancer Risk, and Actual Cancer Risk

To Compare the overall quality of life of patients with no Barrett's esophagus , non-dysplastic Barrett's Esophagus (NDBE), Barrett's esophagus with low grade dysplasia (LGD), and Barrett's esophagus with high grade dysplasia (HGD). We also Compare the overall quality of life of Barrett's esophagus patients with severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) symptoms to those with no GERD symptoms

Anthropometry in Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and Esophageal Injury

The Role of Anthropometry in Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and Esophageal Injury

Is waist to hip ratio (WHR), waist circumference (WC), (as markers of visceral adiposity) associated with an increase in acidic and non acidic reflux as well as systemic inflammation involving esophageal mucosa, thereby increasing esophageal injury and predisposing to subsequent development of Barrett's esophagus (BE)?

Reflux Disease Therapy in the Management of Childhood Asthma-data Entry and Analysis Only

Data Analysis of a Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo- Controlled Study of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Therapy (Lansoprazole; Solutabâ„¢) in the Management of Childhood Asthma

There have been a number of studies which attribute causality between reflux disease and asthma. In addition, clinicians typically treat chronic asthmatics with high dose acid suppressing medications (e.g. lansoprazole). However, clinical trials only recently have shed some light on this dilemma, with recent studies suggesting that the association is not as clear. This "retrospective" analysis of a prospective study which treated mod-severe asthmatics with lansoprazole or placebo will enter the collected raw data into a database, then perform statistical analyses to determine if children with asthma treated with acid suppression improved their asthma compared to those receiving placebo.

Analysis of GERD Symptoms Using Gastroesophageal Reflux Impact Score Questionnaire for Quality of Life

Comparison of Risk Factors, GERD Symptoms and PPI Responses in the Reflux Esophagitis, Non-erosive Reflux Disease and Functional Heartburn Using GERD Impact Scale Questionnaire

Even the patients complain GERD symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation the final diagnosis could be reflux esophagitis (RE), non-erosive reflux disease (NERD) and even functional heartburn (FH). In addition, the GERD symptoms are consisted of esophageal symptoms and extraesophageal symptoms. Thus it is necessary to use effective tool for the measurement of GERD symptoms and response of proton pump inhibitor in short time. Several questionnaires have been made for the assessment of GERD symptoms in recent years However, their screening tools do not include the impact of symptoms on everyday life and take a long time to complete the questionnaires. The GERD impact scale (GIS) questionnaire has been developed to compensate for this. It is a simple, one-page, questionnaire to communicate to the doctor the frequency of reflux symptoms and their effect on quality of life, recognizing that it might also prompt clinicians to make appropriate treatment for patients' symptoms. However, there was no report regarding comparison of the characteristics and response to PPI in RE, NERD and FH groups using GIS questionnaire so far.
