Do Inflammatory Arthritis Inpatients Receiving Group Music Therapy Improve Pain Compared to Music Listening Over the 4 Weeks Using a Randomised Control Trial?
Pain management is rated by patients with inflammatory arthritis as the highest priority in their disease treatment. Past research showed that music therapy is associated with reduced pain and depression. The purpose of this study is to better understand the effectiveness of music therapy for people with inflammatory arthritis. Participants will be randomly assigned to: 1) Music Therapy group facilitated by a music therapist, or 2) Music Listening group that listens to a relaxation CD (compact disc). Standardized tests will determine if participating in music therapy group helps reduce pain and depression, improve physical function and confidence levels in applying self-management strategies.

Diagnostic and Interventional Study of Neuro-Music Therapy for Recent Onset Tinnitus: Evaluation of a Therapy Concept Using Psychological Assessment and Functional Neuroimaging
To date, the pharmacological treatment options for tinnitus are unsatisfactory. For acute tinnitus drug treatments are only rated as being successful in approximately half of all cases. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate a neuro-music therapeutic approach (the "Heidelberg Model of Music Therapy") as a new treatment option for patients with recent onset tinnitus after initial medical treatment has failed.

Pilot Study Evaluating the Benefits of Music Therapy Combined With Conventional Treatment on Irritability and Impulsivity in Patients With Huntington's Disease (Music-HD)
The study is an open-label clinical trial evaluating whether music therapy combined with conventional management reduces irritability and impulsivity in 15 patients with early-stage Huntington's disease. This pilot study aims to show the interest of alternative non-pharmacological measures such as a digital music therapy tool, adapted to an audience of Huntington's patients, to help manage the psychobehavioral symptoms frequently observed in this affection, and to avoid breakdowns due to caregiver exhaustion.

The Impact of Music Therapy on Anxiety in Patients Newly Diagnosed With Cancer & Undergoing Simulation for Radiation Therapy
This study looks at the effects of a protocolized music therapy intervention on state anxiety for patients with cancer undergoing simulation for radiation therapy. Simulation, which is an imaging and diagnostic procedure, has been identified as producing significantly high levels of anxiety in many cancer patients.

Introduction of a Music-based Intervention for Patients Receiving Infusions at the Lifespan Cancer Institute Infusion Center in the Miriam Hospital
The goal of this clinical trial is to test the effects of a listening music intervention on the symptom burden carried by patients who are receiving infusions at the Lifespan Cancer Institute of Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Will a music therapy intervention help reduce physical and mental symptom burden? - Will a music therapy intervention be beneficial on physiological parameters during the infusion sessions, such as heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood rate? Participants will undergo the following main tasks: - Prior to the infusion, participants will be given a pre-assessment survey reflecting on their previous experiences with infusions. - During the infusion, participants will listen to a self-selected playlist either on their own device or on an iPad provided by the clinic, and vitals will be monitored. - After the session, participants will be given a post-assessment survey to evaluate outcomes of the intervention. - Participants will also be asked a set of qualitative questions about their overall experience with the music therapy session.

Short-term Effectiveness of Music Therapy Songwriting on Mental Health Outcomes of At-risk Parents in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: an International Multicenter Mixed-methods Study.
The mental health of parents of preterm newborns (PTNB) is negatively affected by prolonged hospitalization of the PTNB in the intensive care unit. This produces changes in the role of the parents and the bond with the newborn, leading to states of depression, anxiety, and stress. Several strategies, including music therapy, have been implemented to mitigate the negative impact on the parents' mental health. The main objectives of the proposed trial are to determine whether Music Therapy (MT) songwriting combined with standard care (SC) during NICU stay is superior to SC alone in reducing the risk of postpartum depression in at-risk parents of preterm children at the end of treatment, and understand the lived experiences of participating parents who received music therapy for their mental health.
