NCT ID: NCT06446986 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Scoliosis Idiopathic

Dual Tasking and Upper Extremity Disability in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

Start date: June 6, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this observational study is to evaluate the dual task and upper extremity disability in individuals with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis compared to healthy controls and to examine their relationship with clinical and radiological parameters in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. To compare dual task and upper extremity disability in individuals with AIS and healthy sex and age-matched healthy controls. 2. To analyze the relationship of dual-task and upper extremity disability in individuals with AIS with clinical and radiological parameters All participants' dual-task performance will be evaluated and they will answer the upper extremity disability survey. Besides, the study groups will be examined thoroughly and radiological parameters will be calculated to identify the clinical and radiological parameters that affect dual-task performance and upper extremity disability.

NCT ID: NCT06417944 Recruiting - Scoliosis Clinical Trials

The Effect of Three-dimensional Exercise (Schroth Exercise) on Diaphragm Thickness in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Patients

Start date: May 14, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Spinal deformity is common in childhood and adolescence, and can often present as scoliosis or increased thoracic kyphosis deformity with various etiologies. The diaphragm is the main respiratory muscle, and diaphragm contraction is associated with respiratory functions.Any spinal deformity, especially one that affects the thoracic spine, can affect lung function. In the planned thesis study, investigators will measure the diaphragm thickness in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients with scoliosis deformities affecting the thoracic region, whether there is any relationship between the impact in the thoracic region and the diaphragm thickness, and the three-dimensional exercise (Schroth exercise-Barcelona Schroth therapy) applied in investigators' clinic for scoliosis, before and after the treatment of the diaphragm. Investigators aimed to show whether there is any change in thickness.

NCT ID: NCT06356350 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Exercise Programs on Gait in Children With Scoliosis Diagnosed JIA

Start date: April 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is one of the common chronic diseases in childhood. Problems such as weakness or pain may occur in JIA, especially in the joints and the muscles around the trunk (1). These conditions may lead to abnormal displacement of the center of gravity, deterioration of biomechanics, and muscle imbalance in children with JIA (2, 3). All these situations can lead to scoliosis, which we often encounter in children with JIA. Current studies describing various 3-dimension (3D) exercise methods (SEAS, Schroth, Dobomed, BSPTS, Side-shift, Lyon, etc.) effective on scoliosis (4). However, no study was found in the literature that searching the effects of these exercise methods on gait parameters in children with scoliosis diagnosed JIA.

NCT ID: NCT06093477 Recruiting - Spondylolisthesis Clinical Trials

Studying Melatonin and Recovery in Teens

SurgerySMART
Start date: May 30, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this feasibility clinical trial is to learn if melatonin can help teens having major musculoskeletal surgery by promoting healthy sleep. Melatonin is available as a dietary supplement that may be effective in promoting longer, higher quality sleep. This study will assess the feasibility and acceptability of melatonin for teens undergoing major musculoskeletal surgery, as well as determine optimal measured outcomes (sleep, pain, health-related quality of life) at short- and long-term follow-up.

NCT ID: NCT06086431 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Scoliosis Idiopathic

Dexamethasone vs. Dexmedetomidine for ESPB in Pain Management After Pediatric Idiopathic Scoliosis Surgery

Start date: October 17, 2023
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Effect of perineurial dexamethasone and dexmedetomidine on erector spinal plane block duration for pediatric, idiopathic scoliosis surgery.

NCT ID: NCT06021314 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Scoliosis Idiopathic

Brace Efficiency and Generalized Joint Hypermobility

Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this observational study is to learn about effect of generalised joint hypermobility on the effectiveness of the brace in children with Adolesan Idiopatic Scoliosis and who use braces due to brace indication. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does Generalized Joint Hypermobility have an effect on the amount of in-brace improvement achieved in children using braces? - Does Generalized Joint Hypermobility have an effect on the change in the numerical variables related to scoliosis recorded in the out-brace measurement at the end of 6 months?

NCT ID: NCT05961228 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Scoliosis Idiopathic

Back Muscle Function in Adolescents With Idiopathic Scoliosis

Start date: July 10, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The function and asymmetry of back muscles will be examined in different positions and with specific spinal corrections based on scoliosis pattern and according to the "Schroth method" in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis.

NCT ID: NCT05950100 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Scoliosis Idiopathic

Impact of Virtual Reality on the Postoperative Balance of Adolescents With Idiopathic Scoliosis

Start date: June 17, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this randomized clinical trial is to evaluate the impact of immersive virtual reality on the static and dynamic balance and functionality of adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis after spinal correction surgery. Secondarily, the objective was: (1) to analyze whether treatment with immersive virtual reality interferes with the hospitalization time of the studied population in relation to the average expected time; (2) to evaluate the impact of the use of immersive virtual reality in relation to the pain reported by adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis in the postoperative period; (3) to evaluate the impact of the use of immersive virtual reality on the functionality and quality of life of the studied population. Participants who meet the inclusion criteria will be randomized into 2 groups - virtual reality group (GRV) and control group (GC). Both groups will be assessed for pain, static and dynamic balance, length of stay, functionality and quality of life. Patients belonging to the virtual reality group will receive the intervention, which will consist of physiotherapeutic procedures usually used in the hospital applied by the institution's physiotherapist, and therapy with immersive virtual reality. The control group will receive only the physiotherapy offered by the hospital.
