Filter by:Chronic pancreatitis is a rare but debilitating condition associated with chronic abdominal pain, diarrhea, diabetes, and an 8-fold increased risk for the development of pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately, there is no available treatment to prevent the progression of chronic pancreatitis, and most subjects require narcotic medications to control the pain. A receptor protein call the CCK-B receptor becomes activated in chronic pancreatitis and is in part responsible for the scar tissue or fibrosis that occurs and responsible for the cancer risk. In mice with chronic pancreatitis, the inflammation and damage was reversed with an old drug called proglumide that blocks the activation of the CCK-B receptor. Proglumide has also been shown to possibly reduce pain. This protocol involved a 2-Part study to test the safety of oral proglumide in those with confirmed chronic pancreatitis and the second goal is to determine if proglumide improves pain and function of the pancreas. Part-1 is an open-labelled Lead-in Study of N=8 subjects over a 12-week treatment period. Part-2 is a randomized double blind pseudo cross over study where subjects will be treated in Arm A (placebo for 12 weeks followed by 12 weeks of proglumide) and Arm B ( proglumide for 24 weeks).
This protocol describes the NOPARK Open Label Extension Study. The NOPARK Open Label Extension study is an optional extension of the clinical phase II NOPARK study. Participants who have been included in the NOPARK study will upon completing their participation in the NOPARK study (i.e., after 52 weeks) be offered to receive the study drug Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) 1200 mg P.O. per day, until the NOPARK trial is completed, and the data analyzed with a conclusion of the primary outcome. Individuals enrolled into the NOPARK Open Label Extension Study will be followed with yearly visits. The goal of the NOPARK Open Label Extension Study is to monitor long term safety and study long term neuroprotective and other biological effects of NR use.
The study is a prospective, 1-arm, open label, nonrandomized, single center study designed to evaluate label comprehension, device usability and safety of the FERTI·LILY Conception Cup. The primary safety endpoint will be an assessment of reported adverse events. Subjects will be screened -10 (±3) days prior to the baseline visit. At baseline, 15-20 subjects meeting the inclusion/exclusion criteria will be provided with a FERTI·LILY Conception Cup device and instructions for using the device. Subjects will participate in a label comprehension protocol that includes the physician confirmation that they have adequate comprehension to enroll. If not, a screen failure form is completed. Subjects will agree to try and use the device within 2 weeks of disposition therefore at baseline a two-week visit is scheduled. In the event they do not use the device within the two-week period the follow up visit can be rescheduled based on the visit window of +14 days. If it is not used within 4 weeks, the PI will have the subject return to the site to authorize another two-week period that will be captured as unscheduled follow up visit. The subject should complete the Device Experience Survey after each device use. The Device Experience Survey will be returned at this time, and adverse events will be assessed.
Concurrent chemoradiotherapy is the standard modality for locally advanced small-cell lung cancer, which could achieve median overall survival of 25 mos. Conventional fractionation of 66Gy/33f and hyperfractionation of 45Gy/30f twice daily have been acknowledged as the two standard radiotherapy modalities according to CONVERT study. In 2021, a phase II trial demonstrated that 60Gy/40f twice daily was superior to the standard 45Gy/30f twice daily in light of overall survival (2y OS 74.2% vs. 39% p=0.0005), which to some extent implied that higher dose may confer better survival. Hypofractionated radiotherapy was another useful modality to increase biological effective dose with the advantage of short course and convenience. The effectiveness and safety of 60Gy/15f has been demonstrated in the treatment of locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Therefore, this trial is designed to explore the safety and primary efficacy of hypofraction radiotherapy for stage III locally advanced small cell lung cancer.
A Phase 1 Non-Randomized Open Label Study of Oral ICM20
The study is a randomized, double blinded, bilaterally controlled trial.The aim is to evaluate the short- and mid term safety of Liponovo tissue product. The safety of the Liponovo tissue product is to be studied in 40 healthy volunteers. Liponovo tissue product is injected into superficial part of the subcutis with one injection to standardized area. The amount of the injection is 4,5 ml. As the control method same sized area is injected with plain Ringer-Acetat solution. The adverse events and serious adverse events are monitored in doctor visits, phone calls and e-diary.

Background: The elderly are a vulnerable group for health problems as they age. Safe care is essential when caring for the elderly at home because adverse events can happen there, such as falls, pressure ulcers, injuries, or dangers caused by medication errors. Safety culture for the elderly at home needs to be developed so that they can avoid unexpected events. This study aimed to develop the model for safety culture among the elderly called Aging Safe from the Risk (ASRi) to improve the safety culture in elderly care at home. Methods: This exploratory sequential mixed methods study will consist of three stages. Stage 1, a qualitative descriptive study, will be conducted to explore the perceptions of families, nurses, and school administrators for the elderly regarding the safety of the elderly at home. Data will be collected by interviews and focus group discussions. Stage II will involve developing The ASRi model using the modified Delphi method. The list of elderly safety culture indicators will be assessed by experts and then further developed into a model. In stage III, a model test will be conducted with a non-equivalent control group using a quasi-experimental design. The investigators will provide interventions in the form of education and training to families regarding the safety culture for the elderly at home. Findings: There is a crucial need for studies assessing the safety culture in elderly care by empowering families at home to improve safety for the elderly. The results of this study will help fill the knowledge gap in this research and can aid in developing public health policy and programs for the elderly. .
