NCT ID: NCT04170218 Not yet recruiting - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Quality of Care for Knee and Hip Osteoarthritis in Elderly Patients

QSAMISA
Start date: December 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Introduction: Hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA) was ranked in 2010 as the eleventh highest contributor to global disability. In France in 2014, non-spinal OA was the leading self-reported cause of morbidity among adults over sixty-five years of age, with a prevalence of 49.5 per cent. OA is known to be the first cause of disability in activities of daily life and a risk factor of frailty among people over seventy-five years of age. Despite its major impact on the elderly population's quality of life and health, quality of care for OA in elderly patients remains understudied. Objective: The study aims to assess the quality of care for knee and hip OA in patients aged 75 years and over.

NCT ID: NCT03255863 Completed - Chronic Disease Clinical Trials

Determinants of Patients' Uptake of Therapeutic Education Programme

UTEP
Start date: December 20, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Therapeutic Patient Education (TPE) refers to programs that help patients to manage life with a chronic disease in the best possible way. In spite of the effectiveness of Therapeutic Patient Education, few patients uptake TPE when it is proposed to them. Therefore, our main aim was to identify patients' beliefs that will predict patients' uptake of TPE. According to the Health Belief Model, patient will participate in TPE if they perceive their disease as a serious threat (with possible serious complications), but which can be controlled however, and that TPE is efficient and represents little burden. Secondary aims are as follows: 1. To test whether the way TPE is presented to patients impact patients' decision to uptake TPE. The way TPE is presented comprises the time between diagnosis and the proposal of TPE, whether patient is a remission or crisis period in the disease, the time between the proposal and the next TPE session, and what is said by healthcare professionals to present TPE. 2. To test whether healthcare professionals' empathy impact patients' decision to participate in TPE 3. To test whether patients' intention to participate in TPE will predict their actual participation. The ultimate goal of the study is to identify patients whose beliefs will not favor participation in TPE in order to accompany those patients more carefully. Best practices will be proposed according the results.

NCT ID: NCT02598609 Completed - Clinical trials for Intubation Complication

SEPREVEN: a Stepped-wedge Randomised Controlled Trial

SEPREVEN
Start date: November 23, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Adverse events are frequent in Neonatal Intensive Care Units' (NICU) patients and account for a high morbidity and mortality. Possible severe adverse events are central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI), ventilator and catheter associated adverse events and medication errors. Severity of the patient's outcome after an adverse event can be classified using the National Coordinating Council for Medication Error Reporting and Preventing (NCC MERP) Index for categorizing medication errors. The study will test the hypothesis that rates of adverse events in NICU patients will be reduced by the implementation of an educational program for the NICU caregivers (nurses and physicians), consisting of strategies for recognizing and preventing adverse events in their unit. These strategies will be oriented to prevent CLABSI, medication errors, skin and nasal complications and ventilator and catheter-associated adverse events. This trial has a stepped wedge cluster design, in which the NICUs from 12 hospitals in France will be randomized to the timing of implementation of the educational program. In order to describe the adverse events occurring during the study period, an anonymous voluntary adverse event reporting system will be provided to the caregivers of the participating units. A nested study will examine how caregivers communicate with the patients' parents in case of adverse event (disclosure or not, and caregivers' reasons). The rates of adverse events will be measured retrospectively using a neonatal NICU trigger tool.

Showing Health Information Value in a Community Network

Start date: August 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine the value of shared health information on care quality and costs when this information is used to notify care providers about concerning health events for patients cared for by a community-based network of providers.
