More than 5 years ago the DVT FREE Registry was conceived. Its database consists of 5,451 ultrasound-confirmed DVT patients from 183 institutions. This database is rich in information of critical importance to health care providers. The information contained within the database will be revisited to provide more detailed analyses which will be used for risk factor assessment and for decision-making regarding the implementation of VTE Prophylaxis.
The aim of this study is to investigate the safety of treatment of pulmonary embolism in an outpatient setting based on normal pro-BNP levels. The mortality rate and the incidence of hemodynamic instability as well as major bleeding and recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE) in the outpatient group will be studied.

This is a multicenter, randomized, open-label, assessor-blind, event-driven, non-inferiority program for efficacy with a study treatment duration of 3, 6 or 12 months in patients with confirmed acute symptomatic pulmonary embolism (PE) with or without symptomatic Deep-Vein Thrombosis (DVT) (Einstein-PE).
