Use of Puzzle Method in Psychiatric Nursing Teaching

Start date: November 7, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Objective: It is thought that the puzzle technique and teaching method will be useful in teaching psychiatric nursing in order to facilitate the learning of psychiatric symptoms and findings and to increase awareness in mental state examination. For this reason, the research was planned to examine the effectiveness of the puzzle technique in learning psychiatric symptoms and findings in psychiatric nursing students. Design: This study was planned in a randomized controlled experimental design. Method Place and Time The research is planned to be carried out between November and January 2022 at a foundation university. Population and Sample of the Research The population of the research will be 108 students enrolled in the nursing program of a foundation university and taking the "Psychiatric Nursing" course in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. In the study, it is aimed to reach the entire universe, not selecting the sample. The students in the universe, who accepted to participate in the study and completed the pre-test, will be assigned to the intervention and control groups by randomization with the help of a generator on the www.random.org website by being numbered according to their order in the student list. Hypothesis: Students who use puzzle method in teaching psychiatric nursing have higher knowledge levels than students who do not.

NCT ID: NCT05054205 Completed - COPD Clinical Trials

Motivational Interview-based Self-management Training

COPD
Start date: March 2, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is an important chronic disease that causes increasing mortality and morbidity globally, as well as a social and economic burden. All symptoms (cough, sputum production, etc.), especially dyspnea in COPD, the chronicity of the disease and the need for long-term care limit the lives of the patients. Dyspnea occurring in COPD negatively affects the self-confidence of patients by restricting their activities of daily living, thus causing a decrease in their self-efficacy levels. Low self-efficacy levels cause patients to limit their activities more. Nurses play an important role in ensuring the management of COPD, supporting patients to continue their activities of daily living, and increasing their self-efficacy levels. Nursing care that includes patient education and counseling is important in providing disease management and symptom control, and increasing the self-efficacy levels of patients. During self-management training, it is necessary to ensure that the patient is an active participant, to use a motivating communication style in the behavior change process and to encourage patients. In this process, it is stated that it is important to use motivational interview techniques in self-management training given by nurses.

NCT ID: NCT04969562 Completed - Anxiety Clinical Trials

The Effect of Emotional Freedom Technique on Depression, Anxiety and Distress of Individuals With Multiple Sclerosis

Start date: August 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Volunteers over the age of 18 who applied to the Neurology Outpatient Clinic of Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, who were diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the last three months, one month after the initiation of treatment and accepted the study, will be included in the study after their eligibility to the sampling criteria is evaluated. EDSS will be applied to the individuals by the specialist physician and they will be directed to the MS daycare unit. Since it is a randomized controlled experimental study, the sampling and follow-up measurements will be carried out by a psychologist in the unit where the study is applied, who does not carry out EFT. Scales will be applied in the daily unit and will be randomly divided into two groups at the beginning of the study. The psychologist who chooses the sampling will not know which group the participants will fall into, and the EFT practitioner will not know the anxiety, depression and psychological distress levels of the individuals participating in the study. EFT will be applied to one of the groups, and the other group will continue their routine treatment. Individuals with multiple sclerosis in the experimental group seven days at intervals, six sessions in which one session lasts 30-45 minutes will be included in the EFT application. SUDS will be applied before and after each EFT session. At the same time, resting heart rate and blood pressure will be measured in the EFT group before and after each session. Depression, anxiety and psychological distress levels of individuals with MS will be evaluated with HAD and SUDS at the beginning of the study, at the end of six sessions and in the first month.
