Progressive Muscle Relaxation and Deep Breathing Exercises

The population of the study was composed of 186 patients whose cells were assigned to Atatürk University Hospital Educational Diseases Polyclinic between April and June 2023, and whose cells were found to have COPD according to the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Initiative by the physician. A total of 140 patients approved the inclusion criteria and agreed to participate in the study. Priori power analysis was performed for sampling determination. In the power analysis, Cohen's medium effect size reference method was chosen. As a result of the power analysis, it was determined that it should be done with a total of 90 patients, 30 patients in each group, two experimental groups and the control group (α=0.05, power=0.8, and effect expectation=0.65). In case of data loss, this number plus approximately 20% reserve allocation included 36 patients in each group. However, the study was completed with a total of 96 patients, including PMR(n=31), DB(n=32) and 33 control subjects.

Postpartum Depression and Maternal Attachment

In terms of postpartum care and depression, follow-up and controls should be continued online in order not to interrupt the follow-up and treatment of women. In this context, in order to prevent the development of postpartum depression and to increase maternal attachment, it is planned to deliver the progressive muscle relaxation exercise and individual health education program that we planned in our study through online applications. This study will be conducted to evaluate the effect of online health education and progressive muscle relaxation exercise program on postpartum depression and maternal attachment.The study was planned as a parallel randomized controlled experimental study conducted in a Family Health Center in Ankara, with a single-center, stratified block randomization (parity: primiparous, multiparous; EPDS score: 0-9, 10-30).The number of pregnant women to be included in the study was calculated as 56.Personal Information Form, Prenatal Attachment Scale, Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale and Postpartum Attachment Scale will be used to collect data.

'Go With the Flow': Effects of Mindful Self-Compassion in Psychiatric Rehabilitation

This study is designed as a randomized controlled trial to gain further insights into possible effects of a standardized 6-week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) training on psychiatric rehabilitation inpatients and aims - to generate insights into which parameters of mental health, and especially emotion regulation, can be improved by MSC in this setting, - to compare effects of MSC training with an established relaxation training (i.e., progressive muscle relaxation; PMR) and - to determine the general conditions and patient characteristics influencing the effectiveness of MSC training.

Craniosacral Therapy as a Self-help Strategy for Patients With Chronic Non-specific Back Pain

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a non-manipulative, very gentle manual treatment method. Although the mechanisms of action have not yet been investigated sufficiently, initial clinical trials support CST efficacy/effectiveness in chronic pain disorders such as back pain, neck pain, and fibromyalgia. In clinical practice, therapists also report pain alleviating effects of CST self-help techniques, offered to patients within a group concept. Yet, the effectiveness of teaching CST self-help techniques to medical laypersons has not yet been scientifically investigated. Therefore, this study aims at collecting quantifiable data on the effectiveness and safety of a CST self-help group concept, developed for patients with chronic non-specific low back pain. The intervention group will receive 24 lessons of education and practice in CST self-help techniques over 12 weeks, while the control group will receive the same amount of self-help (education and practice) in progressive muscle relaxation. Six and 12 months after randomization, longer-term effects will be investigated.

Mindful Self Compassion in Rehabilitation Inpatients

In recent years there has been convincing evidence of the positive effects of mindfulness based interventions, as a form of complementary and alternative medicine in regards to subjective well-being and physical health. There is growing evidence concerning the positive effects of these techniques in regards to an adequate stress management (e.g. respiration and heart rate variability). These findings can be found as well documented in the literature. For this study it is conducted to gain further insights into the role of mindfulness based meditation techniques for psychological well-being. Therefore it is intended to focus on clinical groups (e. g. depression and anxiety patients) in order to find out more about the relevance of mindfulness based meditation techniques as an adjunct for psychiatric and psychotherapeutic treatment. In this study special aspects of mental and spiritual health (e.g. self compassion, subjective perceived stress, spiritual well-being, and psychiatric symptoms) should be examined by comparing a group of clinical patients which practice mindfulness based meditation once a week with a control group, practicing PMR (progressive muscle relaxation)
