Start date: September 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Probiotics as adjuvant therapy along with standard care can decrease hospital stay and improve symptoms (fever, tachypnea, cough) in pediatric patients admitted with severe pneumonia.

NCT ID: NCT06287931 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Bariatric Surgery Candidate

Probiotics for Gallstones in Post-bariatric Surgery Patients

Start date: January 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Obesity is an increasing epidemic worldwide and has a significant impact on human health and socioeconomics. Multiple studies have shown that bariatric surgery increases the risk of postoperative gallbladder stones. Contributing factors to gallstone formation include gallbladder motility and bile supersaturation due to rapid weight loss and cholesterol mobilization. At present, the prevention and treatment of gallbladder stones in obese patients after bariatric surgery are still controversial. In recent years, the study of ursodeoxycholic acid in preventing gallbladder stone formation after bariatric surgery has become a research hotspot. At the same time, other studies have shown that taking probiotics or digestive enzymes may improve gastrointestinal symptoms and improve quality of life after bariatric surgery. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the ability of probiotics to prevent gallstone formation after bariatric surgery and to evaluate the impact of oral probiotics on quality of life in patients after bariatric surgery.

NCT ID: NCT05821010 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Synbiotics and Fecal Microbiota Transplantation to Treat Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis

SYNCH
Start date: March 17, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the therapeutic potential of A. soehngenii and pasteurized A. muciniphila combined with B. animalis subsp. lactis and fructo-oligosaccharides with and without conditioned vegan lyophilized fecal microbiota transplantation capsules to reduce NASH in patients with fibrotic NASH. The main questions to answer are: 1. Can NASH be treated by altering the gut microbiota using LFMT capsules? 2. Can NASH be treated using a syntrophic cocktail of synbiotics and will these strains strengthen the effect of FMT? 3. What are the underlying mechanism by which the aforementioned treatments attenuate NASH? Participants will be treated with FMT-capsules or placebo, and all participants will receive a cocktail of 3 strains of probiotics and one type of prebiotic.

NCT ID: NCT05657730 Recruiting - Healthy Diet Clinical Trials

Study the Effect of Water Kefir Consumption on the Gut Microbiome in Healthy Adults

Start date: November 10, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this intervention study is to analyse the microbiota composition after the water kefir consumption. The main questions are to evaluate the potential probiotic drink can have beneficial effect on the gut microbiota. Participants will consume the water kefir for two weeks and microbiota will be analysed. Researchers will compare the microbiota composition before and after consumption.

NCT ID: NCT05588674 Recruiting - Probiotics Clinical Trials

The Effect of Probiotics on Exercise Performance and Recovery

Start date: October 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This project will involve administering a multi-strain probiotic supplement to investigate the capacity to improve exercise performance and/or recovery. This will be done by assessing physiological measures (e.g. performance and muscle soreness), biochemical measures (e.g. oxidative stress and inflammation), and microbial diversity (i.e. associations with bacteria present in the gut). Participants will be well-trained, recreational exercisers and will visit the laboratory a total of eight times, including an 8-week probiotic vs placebo supplementation period.

NCT ID: NCT05406882 Recruiting - Gut Microbiota Clinical Trials

The Effects of Probiotics Combined With Glutamine in the Prevention and Treatment of Radiation Proctitis

Start date: April 15, 2022
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Radiation proctitis is a common complication after radiation therapy for pelvic tumors. The investigators found that live bifidobacterium and lactobacillus tablets combined with compound glutamine enteric-coated capsules can significantly relieve the symptoms of radiation proctitis through preliminary clinical practice, but the mechanism is unknown. Through a prospective randomized controlled study, this study intends to investigate the incidence of grade 2 or higher acute radiation proctitis in patients of locally advanced rectal cancer after radiotherapy with the combined therapy. And through various scales, next-generation sequencing methods and other methods to evaluate the clinical symptoms, colonoscopy, imaging, and changes in the species and abundance of intestinal flora before and after treatment. To further explore the related pathways and mechanisms affecting radiation proctitis.

NCT ID: NCT05389033 Recruiting - Probiotics Clinical Trials

Probiotic Supplementation and Exercise Performance in the Heat

Start date: July 15, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Endurance athletes will be invited to participate in the following study. Subjects will visit the laboratory on three occasions, each time following an overnight fast. Briefly, following an initial assessment and familiarisation, participants will be required to complete an endurance bout of cycling exercise in hot environmental conditions before and after 4 weeks of supplementing with a probiotic or placebo. During the exercise bouts, breath samples will be collected for measurements of whole-body metabolism, blood samples will be collected to assess serum metabolites and markers of gastrointestinal (GI) damage, and subjective measures of effort and symptoms of GI thermal distress will be collected. Before and after each exercise bout, participants will be required to provide a faecal sample for analysis of the microbiome and GI inflammation

NCT ID: NCT05366335 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Colonoscopic Probiotics Infusion for Functional Gastrointestinal Disease

CPIFGD
Start date: July 4, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this project is to study the the efficacy and safety of probiotics implantation through infusion during colonoscopy in the treatment of functional constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. The study is a single-center, prospective, randomized, single-blind, controlled, cohort study. The invesitigators plan to enroll 80 patients with functional constipation and 80 patients with irritable bowel syndrome. The invesitigators will randomize the included study subjects. The experimental group receive basic treatment and a single infusion of probiotics through colonoscopy. The control group receive basic treatment and a single injection of normal saline through colonoscopy. The invesitigators will follow up the patients for 8-12 weeks. The primary endpoint is the efficacy of the single colonoscopic probiotics infusion in functional constipation and irritable bowel syndrome patients. The secondary endpoint is the safety of the single colonoscopic probiotics infusion in functional constipation and irritable bowel syndrome patients. Other exploratory objectives include the alterations in clinical indicators, fecal microbiota, and intestinal microbiota metabolites in feces and serum.

NCT ID: NCT05337670 Recruiting - Children Clinical Trials

Probiotics Regulates Skin Care in Children

Start date: May 31, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Probiotics, a component that is generally referred to as a living microorganism or a microorganism present in a host. Most studies have shown that probiotics can regulate immune function in the body. Many studies have attempted to understand whether the use of probiotics can prevent allergic diseases or not.
