NCT ID: NCT05235425 Recruiting - PreDiabetes Clinical Trials

The Lifestyle Education About Prediabetes (Leap) Study

LEAP
Start date: March 20, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This research will test whether a standard version or very low-carbohydrate version of the Diabetes Prevention Program better improves outcomes like blood glucose control and body weight for patients with prediabetes. Participants will have screening (includes blood draw) and baseline testing with a continuous glucose monitor. Once these enrollment steps are completed and the participants will be randomized to one of two groups: standard National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) or a very low-carbohydrate version. In addition to the diet (12 months) participants will be asked to participate in hour-long weekly group classes over zoom. After four months in the program, classes will occur about every month to help participants maintain the new diet. There will also be check-ins and follow-up visits through out the study.

The Effect of Health Education Given to Prediabetes Patients by Videoconferencing on Self-management and Exercise

Start date: January 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The research will be carried out in order to investigate the effect of health education given to prediabetes patients by video conference method on self-management and exercise. The work will be carried out in two stages. In the first stage, the validity and reliability study of the Scale for Process of Exercise Engagement (SPEE) that was developed on prediabetes patients will be conducted and the scale will be adapted to the Turkish society. In the second stage, the effect of health education, which was prepared on the basis of the Transtheoretic Model and will be given by video conferencing, on the exercise status of prediabetes patients, on hunger, postprandial blood sugar, cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglyceride, blood pressure, HbA1c, BMI, weight, waist circumference measurements will be evaluated. In this research, the exercise change stages dimension of the Transtheoretic Model will be discussed and the trainings will be planned according to these stages.

NCT ID: NCT05214209 Active, not recruiting - PreDiabetes Clinical Trials

Diabetes Prevention and Prediabetes Management in Adult

PRIME
Start date: March 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Currently, an estimated 3.9 million Malaysians continue to live with diabetes with many more who live with prediabetes. Diabetes was the one of the leading causes of death in the Malaysia and the leading cause for kidney failure, lower-limb amputations, and adult-onset blindness. Heart disease and stroke are two to four times more likely for individuals with diabetes. The use of mHealth or mobile health application can reduce blood sugar among individuals with prediabetes but also prevent a later occurrence of diabetes. In this study, the investigators aim to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a digital health supported pre-diabetes management program based in an urban community pharmacy setting

NCT ID: NCT05208424 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

New Diabetes Mellitus and Pre-Diabetes With First-time Diagnosed Coronary Artery Disease

DMCAD
Start date: February 27, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

A prospective analytic study to evaluate the incidence, clinical and laboratory characteristics, extent of coronary artery disease and short-term outcome of newly diagnosed diabetes and pre-diabetes in patients with first-time diagnosed coronary artery disease treated in Saud Al Babtain Cardiac Center.

NCT ID: NCT05191160 Active, not recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

The Soy Treatment Evaluation for Metabolic Health (STEM) Trial

Start date: November 2, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Strategies to reduce sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB) have become one of the leading public health targets to address the epidemics of obesity and diabetes. National food, nutrition, and health policies and programs have positioned low-fat milk as the preferred caloric replacement strategy for SSBs. This strategy derives from evidence that replacement of SSBs with low-fat milk is associated with reductions in weight and incident diabetes in prospective cohort studies and reduces liver fat (an important early metabolic lesion linking obesity to diabetes), as well as triglycerides and blood pressure in randomized trials. Whether these benefits hold for soy milk alternatives is unclear. There is an urgent need for studies to clarify the benefits of soy milk as an alternative to cow's milk. Our overarching aim is to produce high-quality clinical evidence that informs the use of soy as a "public health intervention" for addressing the dual epidemics of obesity and diabetes and overall metabolic health. To achieve this aim, we propose to conduct the Soy Treatment Evaluation for Metabolic health (STEM) trial, a large, pragmatic, randomized controlled trial to assess the effect of using 2% soy milk (soy protein vehicle) versus 2% cow's milk (casein and whey vehicle matched for protein and volume) as a "public health intervention" to replace SSBs on liver fat and key cardiometabolic mediators/indicators in an at risk population.

NCT ID: NCT05182970 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Acute Myocardial Infarction

Metformin and Prevention of Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction and Prediabetes (MIMET)

MIMET
Start date: December 2, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Prediabetes is associated to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality. Although metformin can delay progression to diabetes there is a lack of RCTs evaluating the effect of metformin on cardiovascular outcomes. MIMET aims to investigate if addition of metformin to standard care has effects on the occurrence of cardiovascular events after acute myocardial infarction in patients with newly detected prediabetes (identified by oral glucose tolerance test, HbA1c or fasting glucose levels).

NCT ID: NCT05165706 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Longitudinal Multi-Omic Profiles to Reveal Mechanisms of Obesity-Mediated Insulin Resistance

Start date: January 31, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This 12-week controlled diet and weight intervention study seeks to define the molecular pathways that link excess body weight to the development of insulin resistance (IR). Blood, adipose and stool are sampled at three timepoints; baseline, peak weight (4 weeks) and post weight loss to monitor changes in cellular processes. Additionally, direct insulin sensitivity testing, and radiological measurement of visceral fat and intrahepatic fat content is measured at three timepoints to correlate clinical indices with cellular changes.

NCT ID: NCT05163964 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

Chronotype, Chrononutrition and Glucose Tolerance Among Prediabetic Individuals

Start date: January 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Chronotype and chrononutrition, both are emerging research fields in nutritional epidemiology. However, its association with glycemic control in the global population is less clear. A better understanding of how activity/ eating time can influence glucose levels in prediabetic individuals may improve strategies for blood glucose control. The present paper aims to determine the associations of chronotype and chrononutrition with glucose tolerance among prediabetic individuals in Malaysia.
