Strength Training on Muscle Power Output and Neuromuscular Adaptation Among China University Long Jump Athletes

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of optimal load strength training on the lower limb neuromuscular adaptation of athletes. An anatomical analysis of the vertical jump reveals three phases: the propulsion phase, the flight phase, and the landing phase. This study is an 8-week randomized controlled trial. After selecting the participants, basic information such as height, weight, age, and years of training experience is collected. Subsequently, a maximal output power test for lower limb squatting is conducted. Participants are then randomly assigned to the speed group, power group, and strength group. The optimal power load for the power group is determined based on the participant maximal output power. Training plans are developed for the traditional group, power group, and strength group. Each training session is organized and supervised by a designated person. Surface electromyography, three-dimensional motion capture systems, and force platforms are used to collect electromyographic and kinetic data of participants during pre-test and post-test vertical jump actions. Electromyography evoked potential instruments and myotonometer are used to collect nerve signals of the tibial nerve (posterior calf) and muscle fiber dimension data of the rectus femoris before and after the experiment. Additionally, static full-range-of-motion vertical jump kinematics and kinetics data are collected before and after the experiment. To ensure the quality and validity of the intervention, the following controls are implemented during the experiment: first, communication with the participants to inform them of the purpose of the study and ensure adherence to the correct movement standards during testing; second, having a designated person responsible for resistance training during the experiment; third, using the same equipment and team for testing to maximize the controllability of the experiment process; fourth, providing verbal encouragement to participants during testing to maximize effort and minimize experimental errors. The aim is to determine the effects of optimal load strength training on improving the lower limb output power during the propulsion phase of the take-off stage in long jump athletes and the underlying neuromuscular adaptation mechanisms.

Innovative Physical Therapy Modalities in People With a Neurological Disease: Oculomotor Therapy and Adapted Yoga

Physiotherapy is a discipline which englobe not only the rehabilitation of physical pathologies but also their prevention. That is why this study pretends to upgrade this part of the physical therapy specialty while prove new therapies using innovation technologies in people with any physical neurological disease. The main problem that this study pretends to solve is the necessity of develop new activities to improve quality of life and integration in people with any physical neurological disease. People with any neurological disease used to present visual problems, pain, fatigue, functional dependence, and a bad quality of life and it appears that exercise habits could improve all these deficiencies. However, how could people with any physical neurological disease participate in an integrated way in nowadays physical activities? The main objective of this study is to prove the effectiveness on visual acuity, quality of life, pain decreasing, functional independence and fatigue of physical therapy modalities in people with any physical neurological disease. The experiment will take part with 128 participants, divided equally in control and experimental groups. Both are going to receive adapted yoga sessions but only experiment group is going to test oculomotor therapy. Descriptive investigation would take part at the end of the intervention to analyze all results.

Effectiveness of Protein Supplementation on Frailty Improvement, Muscle Strength and Physical Performance Among Pre-Frail Elderly People

The goal of this randomized clinical trial is to study the effectiveness of protein supplements in frailty improvement, muscle strength, physical performance, energy intake and body composition of pre-frail elderly people. in Selangor, Malaysia. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: Does PS intervention significantly affect in frailty improvement, muscle strength, physical performance, energy intake and body composition of elderly people? For the interventional group, Participants will receive 30g of SUSTINEX Hydrolyzed Whey Protein. The participants will be asked to add it to their food or drinks to reach the goal of consuming 30g daily. For control group, participants will receive no intervention- usual care, will receive the standard care of the clinic without supplemented with PS.

Opioid medications are commonly used for pain relief. When given over time, physical dependence can occur. This results in unpleasant side effects (such as agitation and nausea) if opioid medications are suddenly stopped. This study aims to test the use of the drug ondansetron to reduce the symptoms associated with opioid withdrawal and to prevent the progression of opioid physical dependence, thereby allowing future investigators to better test the role of physical dependence in the development of addiction and also possibly improving acceptance of abstinence-based programs for addiction.
