Johns Hopkins clinical research office quality assurance group will monitor and audit this study at Johns Hopkins. The Sub Investigator at each site will be responsible for internal monitoring at their site.

NCT ID: NCT01915225 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Colorectal Neoplasms

Obtaining Solid Tumor Tissue From People Having Biopsy or Surgery for Certain Types of Cancer

Start date: July 21, 2013
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Background: - Recent advances in cancer research have led to new therapies to treat the disease. It is important to continue these advances and discover new ones. To do that, researchers need tissue samples from solid tumors. This study will collect such samples from people already scheduled to have a procedure at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center (NIHCC). Objectives: - To collect tissue samples for use in studying new ways to treat tumors. Eligibility: - Adults 18 years and older, with a precancerous or cancerous solid tumor who are scheduled to have surgery or a biopsy at the NIHCC. - Children under the age of 18 but who are older than 2 years of age are eligible to be enrolled on the research sample collection portion of this study if they will have a biopsy or surgery as part of their medical care. Design: - Before their procedure, participants will have a small blood sample taken. - Some participants will undergo leukapheresis. In this procedure, blood is removed through a tube in one arm and circulated through a machine that removes white blood cells. The blood, minus the white blood cells, is returned through a tube in the other arm. The procedure takes 3-4 hours. - For all participants, during the surgery or biopsy, pieces of the tumor and pieces of normal tissue near it will be removed for this study. The rest of the tumor or precancerous growth will be sent to a lab for analysis. - Participants will return to the clinic about 6 weeks after the operation for a routine checkup. Some may have to return for additional follow-up.

NCT ID: NCT01888965 Terminated - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Maintenance Dovitinib for Colorectal and Pancreas Cancer

Start date: October 2013
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study is for patients with stage 4 colon cancer who have had initial chemotherapy or had surgery to remove metastases and patients with pancreas cancer, which has been surgically removed and are receiving adjuvant chemotherapy or is locally advanced and have already received chemotherapy and radiation. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of oral dovitinib in patients with advanced stage colorectal and pancreas. Effects include biomarker changes, progression-free survival and safety. Dovitinib will be taken by mouth for 5 days out of every week for up to 2 years.

NCT ID: NCT01784081 Withdrawn - Pancreas Cancer Clinical Trials

Integrating Palliative Care and Modern Palliative Care Tools Into the Care of Patients With Pancreas Cancer

iPC3
Start date: April 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the acceptance by patients with metastatic pancreas cancer of integrating palliative care with usual cancer treatment. Palliative care intervention will involve use of pancreas cancer-specific decision aides (iPC3)about prognosis, treatment choices, and advance care planning for patients facing a treatment decision as well as symptom assessments. We hypothesize that palliative care consultations with iPC3 will be accepted, symptoms can be diminished, information can be received in a way that improves choices, and that the quality of care can be improved.

NCT ID: NCT01771146 Active, not recruiting - Pancreas Cancer Clinical Trials

Neoadjuvant FOLFIRINOX Regimen in Patients With Non-metastatic Pancrease Cancer

Start date: October 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A prospective evaluation of neoadjuvant FOLFIRINOX regimen in patients with non-metastatic pancreas cancer (Baylor University Medical Center and Texas Oncology Experience)

NCT ID: NCT01684098 Completed - Clinical trials for Head and Neck Cancer

Safety and Efficacy of FalateScan (Technetium Tc 99m EC20) in Patients With Known Suspected Recurrent or Metastatic Cancer From a Solid Tumor

Start date: August 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The folate receptor is over-expressed on many types of cancer cells and new folate receptor targeted therapies are being developed to target cancer cells that over-express the folate receptor. As with other targeted therapies, it is important to develop diagnostic tests that will provide accurate information on folate receptor status and aid in selecting patients that may benefit from folate-targeted therapy.

NCT ID: NCT01521702 Completed - Pancreas Cancer Clinical Trials

NEOadjuvant Gemcitabine/Oxaliplatin Plus Adjuvant Gemcitabine in Resectable PAncreatic Cancer

NEOPAC
Start date: December 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to test the additional value of neoadjuvant chemotherapy to the standard treatment for resectable pancreatic cancer (surgery + adjuvant chemotherapy). This study will be performed in compliance with the study protocol, GCP (good clinical practice) and the applicable regulatory requirements.

NCT ID: NCT01448668 Active, not recruiting - Pancreas Cancer Clinical Trials

Iscador Qu as Supportive Treatment in Pancreatic Cancer (Union for International Cancer Control, UICC Stages II-IV)

Start date: September 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Efficacy and safety of a supportive treatment with European mistletoe extract Iscador® Qu ("quercus", i.e. from oak tree) in patients with pancreatic cancer (Union for International Cancer Control, UICC stages II-IV), in addition to conventional oncological therapy (radio-, chemo-, targeted therapy) as compared to a parallel group with conventional therapy only. Primary Endpoints: Reduction of adverse effects of conventional therapy; reduction of therapy or disease induced symptoms (both are quality of life parameters and evaluated after 1 year); prolongation of disease free and/or overall survival (DFS, OS) after 3 years. Prospective observational confirmation study of previous retrospective cohort study. As this is a non-interventional cohort study, all therapies and measurements are performed on directive by the treating physician and/or request by the patient only.
