Filter by:The oxidative - antioxidative balance is the crucial mechanism of opioid-induced immunomodulation. Additionally, impairement of cognitive function during opioid therapy is another important side- effect. This phenomenon was clearly described in opioids abuse. This is interesting to evaluate the importance of this subjects in chronic pain patients. The aim of the study was to investigate the oxidative - antioxidative homeostasis and cognitive functions using serum total oxidative capacity (TOC) and total antioxidative capacity (TAC) tests and Brain Derivered Neutrophic Factor (BDNF) in patient with chronic non-cancer pain treated with opioids.
The purpose of this retrospective study is to analyze quality and adverse events of analgesia by telemedically supported paramedics in comparison to conventional treatment by on-scene emergency medical service (EMS) physicians in the EMS of the city of Aachen, Germany.
The primary aim is to investigate the dose and time dependent effects of different opioids on the immune and endocrine systems. The secondary aim is to investigate whether associations between the function of the immune and endocrine systems and opioid use influence cognitive function, pain and quality of life.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether oxycodone provides better analgesia compared to morphine after laparoscopic hysterectomy or myomectomy.
