Filter by:The aim of this study is to evaluate the adequacy of exclusive oral intake, in terms of energy-protein amount, after extubation in critically ill patients who remained on invasive mechanical ventilation for at least 48 hours.
1. Master and analyze the nutritional health, growth and development status of primary and secondary school students in Shenzhen, and discover the main nutritional health, growth and development problems and influencing factors. 2. Provide basic data and evidence-based basis for the municipal government and related departments to formulate child health policies and measures.
A total of 100 patients aged 18-60 years with confirmed diagnosis of achalasia cardia will be recruited prospectively. In this study, patients diagnosed with achalasia cardia (prior to per oral endoscopic myotomy treatment) will undergo comprehensive evaluation of their nutritional status. All the participants will be asked about the details enlisted in pre-tested proforma.The evaluation will include demographic data(age, gender, food preferences, socio economic status,underlying diseases such as hypertension diabetes mellitus etc) anthropometric assessment (height, weight, Body Mass Index, weight loss and duration, percentage weight loss, midupperarm circumference , triceps skin fold, hand grip strength) and biochemical assessment (Hemoglobin, serum albumin and serum pre-albumin,total protein, serum Vitamin D, calcium, B12, serum iron). Each patients' dietary habits will be assessed by SUBJECTIVE GLOBAL ASSESMENT questionnaire (weight change, dietary intake, gastrointestinal symptoms, functional capacity, oedema, subcutaneous fat,muscle wasting, ascites.The obtained data will be statistically analyzed and interpreted. As we are in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, we will be taking utmost safety precautions to prevent cross-infection. The doctor performing the study and the accompanying technician will be donning the personal protection equipment all throughout the study.
The NutriCare study aims to develop, implement, and evaluate the efficacy of an innovative intervention strategy (medically tailored meals plus nutrition counseling) to integrate nutrition into the standard of care for oncology to improve outcomes of vulnerable patients with lung cancer. The NutriCare study evaluates the efficacy of the intervention on optimizing nutritional status, reducing treatment-related toxicities, and improving the quality of life of patients with lung cancer who are economically disadvantaged, uninsured, racial and ethnic minorities, elderly, and/or rural residents from four major medical centers in diverse regions of the United States (U.S.). There will be two cohorts for NutriCare with cohort 1 recruiting 150 patients completing an 8-month intervention and cohort 2 recruiting 120 patients completing a 6-month intervention.
